To All,

I just received a Republican Party Census Document in the mail. Reading through the questions and the selectable answers I begin to understand that the GOP is in a similar dilema to that of the Dems. They seem to be trying to figure out strategy based upon polls rather than trying to actually stand for something.

On the one hand, they are vague...”Do you support President Bush’s initiatives to promote the safety and security of all Americans?” , and on the other they stupidly ask voting Republicans...”Should the Inheritance or “Death Tax” be permanently repealed?”.

The former question tells me that they are looking for some blanket approval on matters they’d rather not go into detail about. The latter shows me they’re no longer sure who their base is.

They ask of a registered voter, who voted Republican, if American troops should should be forced to serve under UN commanders and if teaching kids to read and write should be a national priority.

The answers you are allowed to give are yes, no and undecided. Imagine that the GOP pollsters think their base can be pidgeon-holed into those slots! Conservatives are definitely not undecided on such matters, and questions on Bush’s policies need to be more specific in order to get a yes or no answer. Conservatives used to be the GOP base. This poll further enforces my lowering opinion of the GOP in it’s current leadership and direction. The more liberal they become, the more they must fish for a platform.

Without mentioning other, less polite items here’s what I would suggest to the GOP spinmeisters....

Eliminate the Income tax; Enact the FairTax.

Deport all illegals as fast as you can round them up. Build the fence, man the fence and secure our borders. Fine (big time!) or jail those who hire illegals.

Shrink the size and scope of federal government. Make the Fed do what it is constitutionally supposed to do. Stop taking on taxpayer fund redistribution projects that have nothing to do with the requirements of federal government.

Stop enacting liberal legislation to pacify the Dems. It doesn’t work. It never has worked and it never will work.

Get some cojones. Americans are at their best when the monkey’s off their backs.

I’m sending this “census” back to them with some caustic remarks. I hope other conservatives speak their minds to the GOP as well. They can’t out-liberal the communists in the Democratic party. Stupidly, they try.

Wgflyer.

That wasn't really a poll to elicit information. That was a poll meant to make you feel like you were involved in the process. I like pro-life orgs, but their direct-mail "polls" are just as phony.

Most of it is simply to get you excited so you will send money. Provide a cause they already know you support. They don't really care what your "answers" are - just send the check.

Hate to burst your bubble but if that Census document had any requests for funds to help beat the Dems, they werent really looking for your opinions, they just wanted to butter you up before they asked for your contribution. You may be right though, Republicans may be as clueless over what to do as the Dems as they certainly havent been acting of late.

I want the same as you. I want the GOP to act according to the will of its constituents (you & me). If they don't, I will simply vote for someone who will.

The GOP in my opinion is a complete and utter bust. It serves only to collect donations. IT STANDS FOR NOTHING!

Stopped giving a over a year ago.

They've been doing a census for as long as I can remember. If filled out and sent back I think it is filed in the trash.

It is designed to give you the feeling of involvement so when you reach the final question "How much are you willing to send the RNC" you check off a big amount and send a check in.

It is simply a fund raising effort not an insult.

Every poll I have received were either filled with softball questions that stand to make them look like they're batting 1000, or have questions with false choices.

The Republican party seems to be most adept at stealing defeat from the jaws of victory. They don't seem to know how to be in a majority position. The Democrats would be walking all over us and forcing their agenda through if they were in power by one seat.

All the bleeding in poll numbers is because of disenfranchised conservatives. The GOP is under fire because it isn't conservative enough, not because the Democrats have the better message. I don't think any of those voters will switch parties, but they may stay home. Unfortunately, we will all suffer for it. I don't know what the answer is because they need to be held accountable. But if they are voted out in November, we're all going to suffer. All I can say is VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES! Send your message there.

--- Eliminate the Income tax; Enact the FairTax. ---

The Fair Tax is a consumption tax which is a regressive tax method. Why would you want that? The less you make, the higher percentage of your paycheck you pay in taxes.

I can't imagine anyone thinking that is a fair or equitable system.

I got the same "poll" yesterday. A few important issues were noticeably absent.

I wrote CLOSE THE BORDERS and NO AMNESTY across the top in big letters. I don't know if anybody'll read it, but if enough people do the same maybe they'll get the message.

The party won't get any more money from me until they start acting like Republicans.

Their minds are made up long before we get those money raising surveys. They are sending me immigration surveys when they know damn well that I don't support Illegal Immigration or Amnesty. Countless times I have sent their response letter back with nothing but a piece of my mind. They don't care. It's all about the dollars. Pathetic! I will take Ronald Reagan's idea of Conservatism over President Bush's compassionate Conservatism any day of the week.

Having been one of those volunteers that opens those response letters, I'll let you in on a secret - Nobody reads those surveys - they just take your money out and throw the survey away.

Don't believe me? Call any of them - RNC, RSCC, etc. and ask them for the results of the last three surveys.

Best response? Send them those Gringo Bucks. When enough of those start falling out of the envelope instead of real checks they will take notice.

Those GOP party census letters are just begging for donations. They don't care what we are for or against. Here's my idea for an effective GOP census:

1- Do you support President Bush's comprehensive plan to immediately seal US borders, return illegal immigrants to their countries of origin and prosecute illegal employers?

A- YES
B- NO
C- I AM NOT AWARE OF SUCH A PLAN, PLEASE SEND ME MORE LITERATURE

2- Do you support President Bush and GOP conservatives in leading the way to end pork-barrel spending, balance the budget and promote responsible financial policy?

A- YES
B- NO
C- IT SEEMS LIKE WE'RE NOW $10 TRILLION IN DEBT, PLEASE SEND ME MORE LITERATURE

3- Do you support President Bush and GOP conservatives' efforts to prevent job outsourcing, reduce the trade imbalance with China and preserve American jobs for Americans?

A- YES
B- NO
C- I HAD TO MOVE TO HYDERABAD, PLEASE UPDATE MY ADDRESS.

4- Will you support President Bush and the GOP Congress with your urgently needed donation to ensure that responsible, conservative government is maintained in 2006 and 2008?

A- YES
B- NO
C- I'M KINDA BUSY RIGHT NOW WATCHING RERUNS OF '24'. PLEASE SEND ME MORE LITERATURE.

GOP Party Census Insults Conservatives

You'll get over it especially if you are that easily insulted. Something else will come along to fill it's gap.

Anyone who really cares about our country needs to understand, and fast, that the Republican party is no longer the conservative party. We need to either do everything we can to change the party, but since that effort seems to be quite useless, we need let them know that we will no longer take it.

I got one and, altough all the questions were predictable, and I only answered one 'no,' I wasn't insulted either and I thought it was a good idea to reinforce that we still stand for all tht stuff.

I got a call from the Republican party not long ago asking for money. I asked if I could ask a few questions to verify they are who they claim, and they said "Sure.".

I asked the woman to give me the definition of a republic. She didn't have a clue. I told them they didn't sound much like republicans.

I don't have a problem at all with the party doing polling.

I have a big problem with the fact that on some issues they don't care what we want, and that we have no real representation.
