That's a bit of a double edged sword. Remember Jim the same Bush who gave us Clarence Thomas also gave us Souter.
I know very well who the enemy is. I'm just beginning to have my doubts about a number of others around here. For some reason a lot of folks on this forum think it's wrong somehow to attempt in any way shape or form to hold our elected leaders feet to the fire.
Noone can voice the slightest criticism of anything the Pubbie majority is doing, or not doing as the case may be, without being called a DU troll. It's ridiculous.
States and Counties are beginning to do just what you advise wrt those who have entered our country illegally and for their trouble their being ripped as grandstanders or worse by more than one member of this forum.
Michelle Malkin has an article today documenting rather well the fact that there are certain members of this Administration who are covertly cooperating with the Mexican government to circumvent our borders and avoid both the BP and the Minutemen. The reward she gets for documenting this is being ripped up one side and down the other. Is that how you want people to behave to a nationally syndicated columnist who's been a pretty vocal supporter of this forum?
You're completely correct about the illegal invasion of our Nation being a symptom of a larger problem. But we can't fix the problem if we're afraid to name it or more afraid still to point out that that the leaders of our Party are doing the exact opposite of what a clear majority of not just Republican but Americans want them to do.
We've got a solid majority in both Houses of Congress for the first time in what, 75 years and these clowns are throwing it away. Some folks around here, including me, are pretty upset about that. If the Republicans lose the House, the Senate, the White House, or any combination thereof it won't be the fault of the conservative grass roots. It'll be the fault of the Party leadership, including the President, for not listening to us and responding to our quite reasonable demands.

There's no alternative. I'll take my chances with Bush and the Republicans. I know exactly what kind of judges Clinton (or any other Democrat) will appoint. No thank you sir.

I agree with the essence of your post, as I do with Jim's. Keep the GOP in power but at the same time let them know they MUST represent the voice of their base.. and we shouldn't be intimidated in not doing so.. here or out there. Both are necessary to cause change.. which will take time AND concerted effort on our part to insist on those changes.
Bravo!
I think there is a difference between holding their feet to the fire and abandoning them when the only real option will be to put blatant socialists in their place.
I was reminded of that today when I saw Madeleine Albright on Neil Cavuto's show hawking her new piece of crap book. She suggested we sit down and chat with the kook in Iran, and wondered aloud whether the letter Adinnerjacket sent Bush might be constructive. It was surreal--watching someone in total denial of what kind of enemy we're facing in the War on Terror.
I see only two possibilities: an ofttimes flawed Republican party or a pacifist, socialist, infanticidal, tax-raising anti-capitalist Democrat party. I see the Democrat leadership like a kind of perverted Politburo; they fight a bit amongst themselves, but are united in the desire to dictate the lives of ordinary citizens.
To me, as someone who grew up as a liberal and was one until the early 90s, the choice is clear: Republicans are better than Democrats. Hands down.
What you said in post #17. I wholeheartedly agree.
I will no longer defend President Bush to my friends and associates. There is nothing left to defend. He has knifed us all in the back.
You already declared for a third party. Don't get upset, go for it.
We may lose 1-3% of the vote, but by eliminating the angry, upset, strident, single issue right wingers, I figure we gain 2-4% of the others who are upset with the strident right wingers.
