How can they all cluster around the same numbers if they are all BS (low 30s)?

How come almost all the polls show Dubya in the low 30s? Are they all uniformly biased against him?

They are. But that shouldn't matter in the methodology. Unfortunately, most of these polls oversample Democrats, so they're overweighted against Bush.

Rasmussen is far more representative, and Bush is ten points higher in his polls.

Polls are like the weather in Texas, wait awhile and things will change.

Even if it's 10% off, he is at 32% approval. If it's 20% off, it's 35% approval.

Amen. Anytime one doubts that we on the right have just as many blind kneejerks as the left only need read a FR thread in which a poll with bad news is announced. It's ALWAYS discounted as meaningless, while the positive ones are trumpeted from the cyber-rooftops.

Are they biased? Of course. Virtually everything about the current U.S. infostructure is liberally biased, from cradle to grave. Does that make every poll with bad news (from the conservative perspective) "meaningless?" Unfortunately, no. Dubya's popularity is in a dismal state and that's obvious to all but the blindest. Rah-rahing won't change it, either. Only Dubya can change it, if he decides it's important to have the support of a reasonable percentage of the people. For now, it appears that it's not important to him.

The poll does prove one point yet again that all conservative politicians would do well to learn: Liberals are gonna hate you regardless of your positions. Let's face it, they should be tickled pink with Bush's stance on immigration, but they hate him as much as they ever did. Being nice to them NEVER works. EVER. (Not that I think being nice to them is what's behind the Bush immigration policy.)

It's not the sheer number of people that counts, it's the quality of the people -- oh, wait, we're talking about democracy here -- uh, never mind.

Don't you think it's odd that no polls have been of "likely voters"? Granted, Bush can't be reelected but they're using these polls to influence voters in other races.

How could Dan Rather and all the other frauds in the media get away with their lies for so long?

Even if it's 30% off, he is at 38% approval.

Specifically how far off do you think this polls are, and why?

I have a feeling they are mostly valid but as bad as I hate to say it this country is ready to go back to sleep and are tired of hearing that we are still at war. They have now decided that the tough Bush they loved for the first year after 911 is no longer needed. Bush has not changed one iota but this country has. It is not capable of even perceived hardship for long.

So if it goes any lower does Kerry get the Presidency??

Who cares what a biased poll says. I would rather have a leader than a poll driven President.

With the MSM all out assault on President Bush along with so many lib lies that have now become accepted truth, are his low poll numbers any surprise (assuming they are within an accurate range)?

I'm not a poll expert, not pretending to be one. It does bother me though to see conservatives see poll numbers knowing the above and attribute it to Bush sucking as POTUS instead of seeing it for what it is. Should the Bush admin do a better PR job? Hell yes. But it also doesn't mean conservatives who should (and do) know better jumping on the bandwagon of "all is lost." Not saying you personally are doing this, just wanted to discuss this aspect.

Of the 1,003 adults polled ....23 of them know , where Iraq is on the map , who the vice -president is , can read at a 10th grade level , have a job, or remember 9-11-01 , and get news from new media . That might put things in a little better perspective , in all these drive by polls .

I think Rasmussen is probably pretty close on this.

I would guess somewhere in the low/mid 40s is correct. The rest is just noise. We got called the other day on one of these things. The questions where absolutely laughable and complete and udder push polling.

For instance: "If it is proved that President Bush has been eavesdropping on you personally is it keeping America safe from terrorists?" Obviously that is an exaggeration, but not by much.

I just hung up.
