Specifically how far off do you think this polls are, and why?

Specifically, I don't give a moment's notice to polls, ever, whether or not if they support my point of view. You want to play numbers games by media rules, that's your prerogative. I never play the game.

Pollsters started to become major players on the American political scene in the late 1940's, and only started to become truly omnipresent with the advent of more accessible, cheaper, high-powered computers in the 1980's. I wonder how the Republic managed to survive until then.

They drop it 1-2 points every week or two with their methodologies (polling more and more Dims for one.) They are going to run out of room to drop it without looking ridiculous soon.

Yes, the same thought occurred to me. They going to get into negative numbers by November, and then people will see their "scientific" polls for what they are.

Yes, the Oprahfied nation saying "make it all go away", lol.

I have to admit with Dems controlling the entire government we would have peace and prosperity again, and all bureaucracies will run perfectly, Dobbs will report that illegals and outsourcing have stopped, the world will love us again, taxes will be raised so entitlements will be a safe bet for our old age, no government workers will be arrested or indicted.

See, all will be well!

It seems like you want these poll numbers to be accurate.

I don't think all is lost at all.

I do think that the predicate for improving his and the GOP's standing is at least acknowledging that something is wrong.

Routinely dismissing polls that show Dubya and the GOP suck (common on FR) isn't helpful.

Sidenote: I foresee another fun November 3rd with stunned Rats, leftists, and other assorted media jerks reacting to another unexpected election result.

Hopefully. Of course what they're trying to do now with all their polls and relentlessly negative reporting is to drive down Republican turn out. But six months is a lifetime in politics.

So you don't think that an evaluation of the public support of the president is important at all? He's our leader, not our ruler, you know.

Some would disagree, but I think your viewpoint is very enlightened. After all, the Left doesn't let the fact that few people support homosexual marriage, open borders, legalization of drugs, felon voting, etc. keep them from pushing their "agenda", why should the President let an opinion poll stop him?

"Even if the polls say the President's "job approval" is at minus zero I wouldn't give a fig. I don't need no stinking poll to do my thinking for me. I stand with this President. Period. "

I have to go along with you. GWB is a complete IDIOT about about the US southern border, and this DOES have homeland security implications, but GWB is the ONLY president that the US can depend on for the Crusade 2001.

I want to look at the situation clearly. I want his approval to be 60%+. It isn't anywhere close, and pretending it is isn't clear minded.

I was joking.

I suspect the poll numbers will keep declining as long as illegal immigration and high gas prices are on the minds of voters.

I can do my own evaluating without having the media and it's pollsters lead me around by the nose. So can you, by the way, if you exercise the thing sitting on top of your shoulders.

POLLS have a DIRECT relationship to the MSM (ANTIQUE MEDIA) lamentations on the front pages and at the major news outlets.......I don't give a da*n about them, just like I don't give a da*n about the antique media's pronouncements.

I guess the media hacks think that Clinton is still in office when "polls", "focus groups", and 'finger-in-the-wind' politics reigned.

No one I know has abandoned the President over the next "low poll numbers" announcement. Just a bit of oversampling of DUmocrats and dead-beats and you can get whatever results you desire with a poll. I don't know anyone who's ever been called for polling, so they must be getting their results from LIEberaltown or fantasy land.

The only poll that matters doesn't happen untill November, and even after that, BUSH IS STILL PRESIDENT.

Am I missing the sarcasm?

Just in case you are serious, I'm going to stick up for Hitman here. He and I don't always see eye to eye on everything, but he most certainly doesn't hate America and has been very even handed about the President. He is an articulate and thoughtful poster. To say anything different is exceptionally unfair.

Some polls are more reliable and fair. Others are completely agenda driven. But in the end, polls only matter as a measure of just how much work we have to do this fall. And what they are showing right now is that it is time we get with the program.

Thanks.

More to the point for me, why should I let people who have shown themselves to be totally biased and untruthful (the MSM) lead me around by the nose with their polls. The Good Lord gave me a perfectly useful tool sitting up in my cranium with which to do my own thinking.
