I think you're misreading what McCain says in this article.

He's pushing FOR amnesty for illegal aliens, not against it.

He merely suggests that they need to be put in line for citizenship after those who have already applied.

This is the same crap he's been saying all along, and despite the title that was posted, it's pretty much what Bush is pushing for as well.

Show me where Bush has supported an amnesty bill. He has called for civil debate and a solution from Congress, and he has said we won't be able to deport 12 million people. None of those things add up to amnesty, much less the super-amnesty that McCain was pushing in April.

I'm worried the President will be squishy on this, but there are a lot of people who are acting like he's the leading amnesty advocate in the country, and it's just not true...yet. Maybe not ever.
