Pure BS. McCain is trying to appeal to conservatives, but they will never support him. McCain should be happy to keep his job in the Senate. The South will never vote for McCain.

I'm expecting there will be some pro-lifers who will support him based on his pro-life record, especially if the other likely nominee is omeone like Condi or Rudy. The problem? McCain thinks the First Amendment gives the government the power to squelch speech about itself. There is no way, NO WAY such a person would appoint a strict constructionist, and I guarantee the next prez will be replacing Stephens and Ginsberg if they haven't died or retired during Dubya's remaining years.

Two SCOTUS appointees by a guy who doesn't believe in the First Amendment? I think not.
