Businessman convicted of harboring illegal aliens working for his company

Man also pleaded guilty to bribing a federal officer

Boston, MA - An Allston businessman, has been convicted in federal court of knowingly harboring illegal aliens who were working in his cleaning business. Jose Neto, 39, of Allston, MA was also an illegal alien from Brazil.

The conviction was jointly announced by United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan, Matthew J. Etre, Acting Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement Office of Investigations in Boston, and Steven Mocsary, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement Office of Professional Responsibility for the Eastern Region. The conviction on Wednesday followed a jury trial before U.S. District Senior Judge Morris E. Lasker.

Evidence presented during the three day trial proved that, between 2003 and 2005, the defendant knowingly harbored illegal aliens from Brazil in an apartment he leased in Agawam and in a house he owned in Allston. He also employed some of the individuals he harbored and offered to sell others identification documents.

The defendant had previously pled guilty to charges of bribing an immigration official, inducing illegal aliens to remain in the country and having a pattern or practice of knowingly employing illegal aliens.

The investigation revealed that the defendant paid bribes to an undercover ICE agent several times over a six month period. The Office of Professional Responsibility supported the investigation during the meetings between the defendant and the undercover agent. “The defendant believed he was paying a corrupt government official in order to purchase green cards for himself and for sale to other illegal aliens,” said Mocsary.

Etre stated, “This case is a perfect example of how an unscrupulous employer exploited illegal aliens in order to increase his profits. The aliens the defendant employed worked seven days a week without overtime.”

"The aliens the defendant employed worked seven days a without overtime"

This is an example of a job that Americans wouldn't do, i.e., work seven days a week without overtime!

I'm sure it didn't even cross the minds of the corporations that hired this low bid cleaning service that these guys were illegals.

At the last shop I worked in I started at $6 an hour. I worked 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week for 4 months straight. There's no way in hell I would have done it without overtime.

I find it amazing that the guy was prosecuted. I wonder who he pissed off? It wouldn't suprise me if ICE tried to up Neto's bribe amount and went after him when he refused.

This is a perfect example of the reason why we should close the borders. Both the illegal aliens and the employers should be tossed in jail for a long time. This would be good if it was multiplied by a thousand.

Ahh, isn't that nice that ICE pats itself on the back for this one little thing. Funny, there's no mention if the illegals were rounded up and send back from whence they came. Any bets on if ICE even bothered picking them up? Huh? No, didn't think so and they're still mooching of the taxpayer.

BTW, I reported a place to WeHireAliens.com. I doubt anything will come of it, but I suppose it's better than not reporting it.

I will believe President Bush and Washington are getting tough when I see the illegal aliens self deporting out of fear.
Yeah, yeah. dream on.
Military at the border is a farce to get the amnesty program through. I am insulted that they think I am stupid enough to believe them.
We wouldn't need military on the border or a fence if they would just enforce our interior laws. And that means withholding federal funds from any city that refuses to enforce the law.
These people will all be held accountable on election day by me. I am sick of all the dog and pony shows.

For all you people who forget what site you're posting on, I quote the highest authority on FR :

***Recognize the enemy for what he is and do not allow them to use divisive issues to destroy our conservative movement. We are winning. We must not be sidetracked by an issue that will be solved in due time as we elect more conservative members to our government and continue replacing liberal activist judges with constitutionalists.

Now, go ahead and tell him he's wrong. I dare you!

Yep, ICE pats itself on the back for this little token bust but gives the Mexican govt. information on where the Minutemen are patrolling and how to avoid them.

If ICE were really interested in busting the employers of illegals, they could cruise the day-labor spots in any city in the southwest. They could easily apprehend more illegals in an hour than they could transport and house in the jails and detention centers until deportation and prosecute the owners. But no, we're supposed to read about these onesy-twosey busts of 40 illegals and feel good about it.

Sheesh, more scare tactics. You need a new arsenal.
Sorry that doesn't work either.
