Are You OK With Secret Terror-Tracking Methods Being Revealed?
FoxNews ^ | March 12, 2006 | John Gibson

Posted on 05/13/2006 3:58:17 PM PDT by FairOpinion

The Washington Post did a snap poll Thursday night to determine if Americans are upset about the president and the National Security Agency keeping a data bank of our phone records — what number was used to call what other number.

The short story: Americans are overwhelming OK with it.

But The Post was asking the wrong question.

In this case, it also needs to be asked:

Are you OK with someone at the NSA leaking this information to reporters?

Are you OK with secret methods being used to try to catch Al Qaeda being revealed not only to the American public, but also to Al Qaeda themselves?

John Gibson hits the nail on the head.

The MSM whipped up a frenzy over Valerie Plame, who was not even really covert and there was no damage done.

Now, when all kinds of info is being leaked, which has grave impacts on National Security, the MSM and the American people don't seem to care, and apparently they don't realize how much this damages our ability to protect us and fight the War on Terror.

The Washington Post and the New York Slimes are more interested in getting the Democrats back in power than they are in National Security. In fact the democrats arent interested in national Security either.

Sadly it appears many politicians on both sides of the aisle are more interested in where they will be working in the next 4-6 years...than American security.

Someone leaked defense plans during time of war. They need to be doing hard time at Leavenworth.

Someone leaked the names of undercover DNC operatives operating out of CIA headquarters. Those DNC operatives need to be flushed out of the system.

Is the constant leaking of classified war information connected in anyway to the cluster of undercover DNC operatives infiltrated into our intel agencies?

Of course it is. Al Qaeda didn't infiltrate, the DNC did. Al Qaeda isn't betraying us, they can only attack us from outside. Undercover DNC operatives are the 5th column over at CIA and NSA. Until we get rid of them we everyone of our secrets will wind up in Al Qaeda data bases by way of Al Jazeera and the New York Times.

If betraying closely held secrets in time of war isn't treason, prosecutable actionable treason, then the word has no meaning. And if our intel agencies lack the ability to defend against enemy agents who have infiltrated the system, then they are finished as an intel agency, they may as well go into real estate.

Phone records are bought and sold daily, and have been for years. Along with personal records such as mortgage data, credit card data, tax data, etc, it should not alarm anyone.

Im sure the majority of the American people don't care that the NSA is collecting their telephone numbers and crosschecking those numbers with calls being made to our terrorist enemies in other parts of the world.

What they do care about is that that information is being leaked to the media so that our enemies know what technologies we are using to track them down and determine their next moves. These leakers should be found and convicted of treason. That's what it is.

If tomorrow the Democrat Party had an epiphany and promoted more national security, those papers would throw their support to their true heros.....communists.

I'm not sure how to read the question, it could be taken two ways:

1. Am I okay with anonymous phone records being turned over to the NSA so that they can be used to prevent terrorism? Absolutely, 100%.

2. Am I okay with the left and the media informing the whole world how our intelligence agencies are trying to prevent terrorism? Hell no!

It's disgusting how much we've digressed in the past 65 years.

I don't know if you have ever listened to John's radio talk show...but I enjoy it immensely...the way he is on his TV show???

Multiply that candor and entertainment factor by 3...and you will have his show...it is really great.

Pulitzer Prize winners should get their Pulitzer Medal, a blindfold and a cigarette when they reveal how we are tracking terrorists or how and where we detain and interrogate terrorists. Why they aren't on trial so they can colect their rewards is beyond belief.

NYT has sunk a ship.
