HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A former U.S. solicitor general will help Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel appeal his murder conviction to the U.S. Supreme Court, saying Monday the case will focus on when the charges were filed.
Theodore B. Olson has argued 43 cases before the nation's highest court, including representing George W. Bush in the disputed presidential race of 2000.

I wonder how much the family is paying this guy.
Kennedy money buys the very best lawyers. And the endlessly sociopath Kennedys NEED the very best lawyers.
Ted Olson is representing Michael Skakel?
Man, oh MAN.
That's what I thought, too...
Silly guy. Those kind of rules don't apply to the special people.
Ted Olson? wow
Lawyers gotta do what they do, but I still think Barbara must be spinning in her grave ... or would be if there had been enough of her left to spin after the Jiahadies got done with her on 9-11 at the Pentagon.
This sounds like a clear ex post facto problem for prosecutors.
Why not the family favorite, Ramsey Clark?
I love Ted Olson. He is a patriot. I was heartbroken when I heard Barbara died on 9/11.

The question is whether change of statute of limitations period prior to expiry is an ex post facto violation. It is already SCOTUS law that a change of statute of limitations where the period expired is a violation.
Because he's busy defending another family of traitorous bastards - the Husseins.
Probably pretty close to what will happen.
There is a Kennedy curse all right. America is cursed with Kennedys.
I understand people needing attornies, but how do they get to the best of the best?
Skakel's attorneys argued that the decision violated his due process rights under the U.S. constitution by retroactively applying the law.
This is actually a good argument. As much as I believe Skakel is guilty, the statute of limitations had expired.
On the other hand, if the state could establish that he wasn't prosecuted within the statutory time limitation period because the crime was being covered up by the cops and DA at the time because of political connections, the statute of limitations may be tolled. If so, the statute of limitations may not be a problem.
Barbars's Teddy must need money.
Has he remarried yet? Maybe he needs more $$$ to "fit in".
What a shame.
Because it is an interesting point of law. That's all. Olson doesn't give a rip about the Kennedy clan.
