Kennedy money buys the very best lawyers. And the endlessly sociopath Kennedys NEED the very best lawyers.

Prosecutor Jonathan Benedict said he would be surprised if the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take up the case. The court generally agrees to consider cases that have a wider impact, he said. ``This is a one-of-a-kind case,'' Benedict said. Silly guy. Those kind of rules don't apply to the special people.

Ted Olson is representing Michael Skakel? Lawyers gotta do what they do, but I still think Barbara must be spinning in her grave ... or would be if there had been enough of her left to spin after the Jiahadies got done with her on 9-11 at the Pentagon.

This sounds like a clear ex post facto problem for prosecutors.

Why not the family favorite, Ramsey Clark?
To: my_pointy_head_is_sharp
Judge: "Counselor, are you maintaining that Mr. Skakel was unde the influence of Ambien at the time of this murder??"
Olson: "I am, your honor."
Judge: "Counselor, are you aware that Ambien was not yet invented at the time of this murder??"
Olson: "I am, your honor."
Judge: "Well. Just so we're all clear. All charges are dismissed. Mr. Skakel is free to go."

I love Ted Olson. He is a patriot. I was heartbroken when I heard Barbara died on 9/11.

Why not the family favorite, Ramsey Clark?Because he's busy defending another family of traitorous bastards - the Husseins.

Probably pretty close to what will happen.
There is a Kennedy curse all right. America is cursed with Kennedys.

Didn't Ken Starr recently represent a murderer on death row?
I understand people needing attornies, but how do they get to the best of the best?

The Connecticut General Assembly eliminated the statute of limitations for murder in 1976. The state Supreme Court ruled that because the Moxley murder occurred within a five-year window of that legislation, the change applied to his crime. Skakel's attorneys argued that the decision violated his due process rights under the U.S. constitution by retroactively applying the law.
This is actually a good argument. As much as I believe Skakel is guilty, the statute of limitations had expired.
On the other hand, if the state could establish that he wasn't prosecuted within the statutory time limitation period because the crime was being covered up by the cops and DA at the time because of political connections, the statute of limitations may be tolled. If so, the statute of limitations may not be a problem.

Barbars's Teddy must need money.
Has he remarried yet? Maybe he needs more $$$ to "fit in".
What a shame.

Why would Ted want to get caught up in this Kennedy mess?
To: TexasCajun
Because it is an interesting point of law. That's all. Olson doesn't give a rip about the Kennedy clan.
