I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

As soon as the economy goes south, those people will get hunted down for trouble by people who are frustrated or lost their jobs IMO.
That happened before the last economic downturn, which is why it is more compassionate to remove them than to keep them around as future targets of American frustration.

The President IMO just enabled more problems. He put a welcome sign out to Mexicans IMO. I am watching a LA RAZA representative on TV talking about how thrilled they are to give you an idea about how screwed up all this is.

I agree. I think there is too much hostility being dumped on Bush after this speech. I mean, the words he said in that speech are not much different from things I've heard Limbaugh and Hannity and Representative Tancredo and other people who are serious about the border. I don't know why so many conservatives are so impossible to please now a days. Bush didn't go as far as I'd of gone, but I'm happy with what he did say. It's a heck of a lot more than what he's said the past six years about getting serious about border security, which was zippo. Today was a HUGE improvement.

You are right - it was 1942 - thanks. Once LEGAL immigration rates are higher, the Border Patrol will be able to focus catching terrorists and any other criminals crossing over the border.
