Reconquista, Here We Come!

The Heritage Foundation and Senator Jeff Sessions try to blow the whistle on the Senate's compromise immigration "reform" bill, via the Washington Times:

The Senate immigration reform bill would allow for up to 193 million new legal immigrants -- a number greater than 60 percent of the current U.S. population -- in the next 20 years, according to a study released yesterday.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican who conducted a separate analysis that reached similar results, said Congress is "blissfully ignorant of the scope and impact" of the bill, which has bipartisan support in the Senate and has been praised by President Bush.

The 614-page "compromise" bill -- hastily cobbled together last month by Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and Mel Martinez of Florida -- would give illegal aliens who have been in the U.S. two years or longer a right to citizenship. Illegals who have been here less than two years would have to return to their home countries to apply for citizenship.

As part of the bill, the annual flow of legal immigrants allowed into the U.S. would more than double to more than 2 million annually. In addition, the guest-worker program in the bill would bring in 325,000 new workers annually who could later apply for citizenship.

That population would grow exponentially from there because the millions of new citizens would be permitted to bring along their extended families. Also, Mr. Sessions said, the bill includes "escalating caps," which would raise the number of immigrants allowed in as more people seek to enter the U.S.

"The impact of this increase in legal immigration dwarfs the magnitude of the amnesty provisions," said Mr. Rector, who has followed Congress for 25 years. He called the bill "the most dramatic piece of legislation in my experience."

Immigration into the U.S. would become an "entitlement," Mr. Sessions said. "The decision as to who may come will almost totally be controlled by the desire of the individuals who wish to immigrate to the United States rather than by the United States government."

One of the most alarming aspects of the bill, opponents say, is that it eliminates a long-standing policy of U.S. immigration law that prohibits anyone from gaining permanent status here who is considered "likely to become a public charge," meaning welfare or other government subsidy.

This change is particularly troublesome because the bill also slants legal immigration away from highly skilled and highly educated workers to the unskilled and uneducated, who are far more likely to require public assistance. In addition, adult immigrants will be permitted to bring along their parents, who would eventually be eligible for Social Security even though they had never paid into it.

No Senator who votes for this proposal, regardless of party, should be re-elected in November. Of course, two-thirds of them don't have to run. The House may be our only hope.

We need a moratorium for a couple of years to give us time to assimilate the ones we already have.

We do not need "Immigration Reform" any more than we need "trespassing reform".

We have laws... lets enforce them.

If we want to establish Democracy in countries to further our national interest, we should consider establishing Democracy in Mexico to prevent their citizens from fleeing the corruption into the USA.

How will the Democrat party possibly survive if they don't do this?

And you know that every single illegal is going to provide proof that they've been here two years or longer. They can get it from the same place they bought their bogus SS card and fake license. Prepare for an influx of "two-yearers" flooding across the border. And every one of them is going to get thousands upon thousands of dollars in freebies and benefits every month, courtesy of The Welfare State.

(Aaaaaack. My stomach hurts.)

A six-hundred-fourteen page bill? Longer than the Constitution and almost as long as the EU constitution! Hagel and Martinez are traitors to this nation for sponsoring such an abomination.

Here is what I proprose then. Since we have an estimated 11 million illegals here now, most of whom (I'll say 8 million) are from Mexico/Central America/South America (M/CA/SA) and we assume the rest are from other parts of the world, we need to balance that out? Right? That leaves a differential of 8 million.

So. First, we secure our southern border and northern border. Then, taking up to 3 million legal immigrants, who meet our qualifications, per year from these other ethnic regions around the world. (Note: we are not taking 3 million each, but a total of three million each year till they reach that 8 million goal per ethinc region):

1. The European Union/Great Britain

2. Eastern Europe

3. Russia/The Balkan States

4. China

5. Western Asia

6. Southern Asia

7. The Middle East

8. The African Tribal Nations

9. South Africa

10. New Zealand/Australia/South Pacific

11. The Eskimo/Aleut/Northern Peoples

12. The Carribean

That's the best I can come up with. Any more?

In the meantime (you knew there was one of those, didn't you?) we put a moratorium on immigration from the M/CA/SA region until that quota of 8 million from each of those other regions is met bringing in a limit of 3 million per year regardless of the makeup.

That means we have to bring in 96 million from those other 12 regions. Dividing that by 3 million means that the moratorium on the M/CA/SA region would last 32 years.

I like your plan.

Of course we both know that will never happen. Apparently the eastern Europeans and Asians don't have a strong enough lobby in the US. Either that or they won't work cheaply enough.

The demographics of this country are going to change. You can hardly buy any product anymore without seeing both Spanish and English on the label.

I don't care anything about balancing out the ethnic mix; I care about culturally assimilating who's here. It doesn't much matter where they are from.

The flaw in that is that there are an overwhelming number of people coming from one region/culture. As their numbers grow their is less need to assimilate because of the support for their home culture overrides the need for assimilation.

Exactly. We have areas of town that from birth up a person would never have to speak English. They can shop, we have 2 mexican malls here, bank, go to school, even do govt business and NEVER have to speak a word of English.

It is pathetic.

While the NYT's, WAPO, Kennedy, McCain etc..are for it.

Those people trying to shove it down our throat here on the board are not conservatives. And I hope they'll stop pretending otherwise from now on. They either don't care about conservatism, do not understand it, or are willing to compromise because of hero worship.
