I'm only intermittently in and out on FR. I don't understand what you mean by the "thread hijacking". And why would people give up and walk away in the face of "Bush-bashing"? If FR is anything, it is a large group of people who live to argue about politics.
True.
But a hijacked thread is one where the debate is fueled by emotion---not reason and facts.
Some folks just can't stand the idea that our President may be wrong on an issue, so they cannot carry on a civilized discourse about the merits of a particular view.
If you disagree with the Presidents position on illegal immigrants then you are a "Bush-Basher" or a "DU troll"
or any number of sub-human entities.
"...it is a large group of people who live to argue about politics."
We have a winner!
Talking politics is fine. But when traitor is one of the nicer words used for our President, then it is over the top ridiculous.
"If FR is anything, it is a large group of people who live to argue about politics."
