There was nothing to fear from having Miers as Justice. Not one objection of substance was ever raised.Such a statement is as fatuous as children screaming "you missed" when playing Cowboys and Indians.
At best, Miers was a stealth nomininee when stealth was actually cowardice. At worst, Miers was another Harry Blackmun inferiority complex waiting to happen.

In the current debate, it's good to remember the AWB because we beat that issue in the House too. Just like we'll do on the borders issue.
Just because we voted for Bush as better than Gore doesn't mean that conservatives surrendered everything they ever believed in. The party-over-principles folks here at FR seem to forget that.
