The sponsors agreed to include exceptions for hardship cases and those who didn't know a deportation order had been issued for them, winning the additional support. In other words, the amendment is meaningless.

Yep. Its all a fake-out. The Senate could care less what the American people want. At the end of the day, the law is not going to be enforced and criminal aliens will be allowed to stay here. So who the heck is Senator Ted Kennedy trying to kid?

The hardship provision makes the ENTIRE BILL meaningless it essentially makes all 11 million 100% citizenship bound.
100% amnesty.
