Listen, I don't excuse it, but I understand what's happening and the responsibility goes right to the top. This is something that should not have happened, that should have been investigated, they've already relieved three commanding officers...but this is the kind of stuff...stress is going to cause these kind of things. That's why I'm so upset about it.

Perhaps the smart thing to do, providing he is wrong, is to charge him with treason. As a congressmen, making a trumped up charge against these men is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

This is a bunch of BS. I currently work at Al Qa'im which is pretty close to Haditha, and this story got around. Why? Because the Marines here threw a reporter from CNN out of the country for lying during a story.

On the border the Marines were sealing a village during Operation Iron Curtain. A house was full of insurgents and the Marines had it surrounded. A woman ran from the house and a Marine went to get her, so she wouldn't be killed. But all the reporter showed was a woman in the house and then the Marines lighting it up. They were all in the chow hall when the story came on and the reporter was in there as well. The base Colonel actually escorted the reporter out and put him on the next Black Hawk out.

Time magazine reported this and it's all BS. Is the news so slanted our troops have to be lied about in a time of war? Mr. Murtha was not there. But sadly, people will believe him because of what position he holds. He sees the news like everyone else and suddenly it's reality. Just like Bush's military records. we make up a story, therefore it must be true.

This whole media mess disgusts me and everyone over here. these men lay their lives on the line and they have to watch the opposite on TV everyday. It undermines the sacrifice of almost 2500 soldiers. And why? because they hate Bush that much. Put politics aside, stop spewing garbage, and let us get the damn job done. You want us out? Shut the hell up and let us do our job, otherwise we will be here a lot longer.

As I read, an investigation is being performed as we address this. While it is very possible they could be guilty, Murtha announcing their guilt so fast betrays every aspect of our legal system.

That's exactly right. Murtha makes what Durbin did look tame by comparison.

An investigation should of course be conducted. This sounds exactly like a death squad or Al Qaeda operation, but of course we can't rule out bad apples on our side. I would think an investigation would immediately focus on the type of ammunition used.
