Hillary Clinton: Right Wingers to Blame for Abortion (Kook Alert!)
Newsmax ^ | 05/18/06 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 05/18/2006 10:48:18 AM PDT by MikeA

2008 White House hopeful Hillary Clinton is blaming right wing "ideologues" for denying women access to contraceptives - leaving them no choice but to end their unwanted pregnancies with abortion.

The move to withhold contraceptives "was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people," Clinton declared in an e-mail to supporters on Wednesday.

"They're waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress," she complains, adding, "and so far, they're getting away with it."

So just how are these right wing ideologues driving up the abortion rate? Clinton explains:

"Low-income women, denied access to contraception, are having more unwanted pregnancies - four times as many as those for higher income women. And almost half of all unwanted pregnancies end in abortions."

The former first lady didn't explain, however, why - in places like New York City, where high school nurses' offices distribute candy-flavored condoms - the abortion rate continues to soar.

Story Continues Below

In January, for instance, the New York Daily News reported:

"For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004, according to newly released figures that reaffirm the city as the abortion capital of the country ... That means 40 out of 100 pregnancies in the city ended in a planned abortion - almost double the national average of 24 of 100 pregnancies in 2002."

This woman is insane! They sell contraceptives at the check out stand of grocery and drug stores for crap's sake! You can buy them on eBay! But I guess when you haven't had sex in over 20 years like Hillary, you wouldn't know that.

I can think of 100 places between my office and my house to buy condoms if I wanted or needed them. Considering that Hillary is my Senator, she is obviously insane. I can't believe my fellow NY'ers are so dumb to fall for her shtick.

Wow I didn't realize right wing whack jobs had barred Low-income women from visiting grocery stores, pharmacies, convienence stores, and even some health clincs. (I hear all of those places have rubbers.)

The thing I don't get, how exactly are these 'right wing idealogues' keeping these women from using contraceptives? Or, those claims that the White House and their 'congress friends' as she put it, are preventing the use in anyway. I'd say she doesn't make any sense, but then.. when did a Clinton ever do anything that made sense.

"For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004"

Another suspect statistic coming out of the queen of lies. We're suppose to believe New York City has a 74% abortion rate? The Clintons are masters at cooking up statistics, just like when they tried to claim 160 million Americans have no health insurance. And even if this abortion stat. is true, how are conservatives to blame for the amorality of the most liberal city in the country, New York City?? You mean to tell me somehow in a hard core Democratic state like New York and in their most hard-core Democratic city, there is no where to find contraceptives? Oh that's right, since there isn't a government bureacrat on every street corner in the city handing them out for free, that's the fault of conservatives. I'd certainly hate to blame Democratic sluts for the pregnancy and abortion rates in the City of Mindless Hedonism, New York.

I think you may have misinterpreted this somewhat. This statistic didn't come from Clinton - it was cited by the New York Daily News last January.

Additionally, it isn't saying that 74 out of every 100 pregnancies in New York are aborted. It is saying that for every 100 live births, there are another 74 pregnancies that end in abortion. That gives about a 42.5% abortion rate. After factoring in other causes for termination such as miscarriage and death of the mother, the reported rate of approximately 40% seems pretty accurate.

The anti-contraceptive folks do statisically increase the number of abortions. But the final responsibility lies with the person who decides to have the abortion.

"Low-income women, denied access to contraception, are having more unwanted pregnancies - four times as many as those for higher income women."

Who is denying poor women access to contraception? AS far as I know, 99.99% of pharmacies sell contraceptives, and there are many, many clinics that offer free contraception to low-income women. And if there aren't enough such clinics to suit them, they can be funded by rich liberals such as George Soros, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Bill Gates.
