Thank God the German justice is starting to deal with those new racists the hard way. The lawsuit of two men who had beaten up a black man (he is in danger to die) in Potsdam is now investigated by the federal attorney general. In difference to some simular cases where the east German authorities managed to do "something" for their "local heroes" it is -in this spechial case- not possible anymore. A good sign.
Anyway there is still a lot to be done in the German east.

Which political party (parties) do these thugs support? My experience here in New Zealand is that it is not necessarily a political left will be more internationalist. I know plenty of centre-left or outright leftists in this country that are extremely nationalist.

this is an issue with soccer fans through out the former soviet republics. These clubs and fans are fantatically nationalistic, and unfortunately it is directly related to their soccer team obsessions. Unlike Europes larger international soccer teams, most of these lesser known teams are reflective of their hometown and city/country...with few players being recruited from abroad. Some of the fans really are thugs, particularly the ones who belong to the club itself.
Why are East Germans more racists than the West Germans?
What happened to the international solidarity among proletarians and related BS taught in East German schools for four decades?
So many parts of Germany are similar to America; where
white Americans can't journey to many parts of their
own cities without being assualted or even killed by
the non-white inhabitants of those places? It's a small
world after all.
