I think Consumer Reports has a web site. If power is out, I can live without a frig for a little while. Good luck w/your shopping.

I'm more concerned about the window situation but deluged by mail from window companies. It still looks like it's a better buy to go to lowes or home depot for new windows.

It appears that wattage, gas economy and noise levels are all important factors.

Anyone have any specific Manufacturers/makes/models that they'd recommend?
