I have discovered it is really best to keep things simple, even supposedly complex issues like this one.

So, my thoughts are summed up nicely with these points:

- The Constitution makes it clear that any invasion by a foreign force into any of the states is basically an attack on the entire USA. To fail to protect any state from this invasion is a dereliction of Presidential duty and an impeachable offense.
- There is a process for any person wanting to legally immigrate into this great country. So take a number and get in line. Follow the procedure like MOST other citizens of earth.
- Those who choose to forego the established immigration process are choosing to break the law. Thus, we use the term ILLEGAL alien. That is NOT racist, that is the truth. I’m getting tired of being accused of “racism” because I want rules followed.
- America is experiencing a tremendous financial burden on education, health care, and enhanced criminal activity of ILLEGAL aliens. This is blatantly unfair to the tax paying citizens as it is a huge strain on available resources. It must end.
- Nearly every country on earth vigorously controls its borders. Why should the USA be so open? The concept of America is still valid, but we need to protect our citizens from this illegal alien problem.
- Building a legitimate fence or barrier along the entire 1800 mile Mexico border is necessary. While we’re at it, let’s build about a 200 mile fence up along the Washington State border to keep those Chinese illegals from pouring in out of Vancouver. Even if the cost is estimated at $500.00 per foot (or $6,000,000,000 total), it is a BARGAIN compared to the costs of illegal aliens in this country.
- I can almost hear the screams of protest now from full blown liberals, the one world order types, President Fox, the media, and business owners who have made profits from their cheap labor source. Don’t worry, this border barrier will have drive through checkpoints and immigration processing stations. Each state can have a dedicated portion of the National Guard assigned to man the barrier to keep watch. The Border patrol will still use camera and drone surveillance for those aliens who dare to attempt and sneak in. Turn them around and walk them right back out (by force if necessary).
- Known drug dealers, criminals, or terrorists caught sneaking in are segregated and dealt with appropriately. To me, this means immediate incarceration and hopefully a quick death sentence. These people are not U.S. citizens and an not protected under our laws. They were attempting to enter and perpetrate illegal and very damaging acts against the USA. So, part of the $6B needs to include a NEW prison for illegal alien criminals. But it is a prison that meets the bare necessities of human existence and patterned after similar prisons in Mexico. No TV, no recreation rooms, no temperature control, no library, basic food (bread, beans, vegatables, water). Those criminals condemned to die are unceremonously hung on a gallows in the central yard. Build this prison in the middle of Texas.
- Oh, how to pay for the fence? Is this a joke? $6B is nothing. But if that becomes a major issue to the House of Lords (Senate), then reduce $6B in pork projects OR add a new donation option to all U.S. citizens W-4 forms next year – “Please check here if you want $20.00 of your taxes to go toward the new border barrier”. I BET IF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT OPENED UP A DONATION FUND SIMILAR TO KATRINA, AMERICAN CITIZENS WOULD DONATE MOST OF $6,000,000,000!!
- Let private contractors (with no illegal aliens on the payroll!) bid for sections of the fence to build. The goal should be to have the fence built by 2008. It can be totally built in 18 months.
- I fully recognize businesses in the USA use undocumented aliens for cheap labor. That needs to end. If a business is caught skirting the laws, make the penalty hurt. Say 60 days in jail and 25% of assets for the first offense, then double it each time. If the illegal aliens are using fake ID’s (SS cards, etc.), and the business owner properly submitted it on the I-9 form and the INS simply failed to catch it - deport them immediately.
- Okay, but what about those illegal aliens who have been here for 2, 5, or 10+ years and assimilated into the American culture? First, announce a 30 day period to come forward and announce yourselves to INS centers. Those that do not do that WILL be deported, along with their entire family. Obviously, those illegal aliens here adding to the crime problem will not come forward. So they will have to be rooted out. Second, extensive checks must be done on those that honestly come forward. The odds are these people are playing by the rules EXCEPT for the fact they failed to abide by the normal immigration process. Any criminals are weeded out immediately. However, I tend to agree with Bush on this issue. The remainder of the family gets in line to become citizens the normal way. However, they pay any and all back taxes, learn English, and stay crime free while in the USA waiting for their citizenships. If such a family is caught hiding ANYONE that failed to come forward in the original 30 day period, the entire family is deported – even new born children or 90 year old grandparents.
- All this talk about Americans not willing to work certain jobs is a joke. There are well paying manual labor jobs that would be taken by a lot of people. Maybe get real creative - match available jobs with able-bodied welfare recipients, release non-violent prison inmates a year early to work a job (OR give them this work option instead of prison), develop a “Service to America” program for kids that really want an opportunity.

There IS a solution – this country just has to possess the guts necessary to make it happen.
