"Bush Inspired by His Mexican Housekeeper"

If only he had taken inspiration from his conservative base...

Call me psychic, but I'm willing to predict here and now that the housekeeper did not enter the US legally

Wow, that's easy! Let me try that. Call me psychic but you, MojoWire, like to vandalize old ladies' cars. Hey, it's just my feeeeling, and prediction! Please, people, can we not assume the worst and not accuse President Bush of things void of evidence? Geesh. We've already had the Dems doing that for YEARS.

"He really does not fathom what Mexico is actually like."

It's beginning to look like he doesn't fathom what America is really like.

"The comments on this thread illustrate how cynical and pathetic the immigration hawks have become."

Kenny -

When all these illegals (and their dependents) gain voting rights, a conservative won't be able to get elected dog catcher. Look at how far left California politics have moved since the "Reconquista" started).

" I don't know many teens who want someone looking after them"

Somehow, I think the Bush parenting isn't based on what the children wanted - more on what was best for them in their parent's opinion.

Perhaps you have confused them with the Clinton's?

;-)

If this "alleged" non-enforcement is true this will be used on Republicans in 2006 & 2008

They will go way back to Texas and dig for W-4, W-2, 1040s, Social Security records, Texas driver's license records, existing Texas statutes at that time, motor vehicle titles, motor vehicle insurance records, etc.

Then they will dig up info on Jeb Bush, Neil Bush, George HW Bush, etc.

Frankly I am truly amazed Slick Willie's War Room did not come up with these "possible allegations" in 1993

--

A few simple stats:

Mexico's income tax compliance rate: 11%

USA's income tax compliance rate: 89%-

--

Both political parties are telling Americans:

- Recruit & hire known illegal aliens
- Cheat on your income taxes
- Use fake IDs
- Bribe government clerks & supervisors
- Skip motor vehicle insurance
- Parade in masks/theaten Americans
- Hire illegals
- Cheat on Worker's Comp
- Cheat on Unemployment Insurance
- Cheat on Quarterly taxes
- Cheat on Medicare
- Felonies are "unfair"!
- Cheat on another 10 dozen+ statutes!

Mexican-born citizen Maria Galvan, 53, has worked for Bush, looked after his daughters, befriended his wife and won the affection of the first family for her loyalty, decency and hard work. As governor of Texas, Bush encouraged his housekeeper to become a U.S. citizen.

Was she legal?

"And I'm willing to bet this is a big part of the reason GWB is consumed with guilt, and thus is trying to ramrod this illegal invasion policy down our throats."

President Bush has yet to show any behavior indicating such Libroid emoting (ala Jimmy Carter).

Have you considered that Fox may have a deal with Chavez and that we are allowing the illegals in to keep the oil flowing?

As for President Bush not being very much of a strict conservative, he campaigned as a "Big Tent" moderate Pubbie, so one can't claim he was deceptive.

This backs up an excellent comment I have read elsewhere on these threads: To wit, Bush has never seen the real Mexico, with all it's corruption, violence and dysfunction. Only ruling-class family friends and salt-of-the earth servants. He really does not fathom what Mexico is actually like.

I have seen the movie Traffic. How faithful is it?

Poor assumption, or the administration would have told you she was legal.

I find myself wondering if this woman got preference in the legalization process. If she was illegal at the time Bush hired her--or had her hired for him--then he lied to the public when he responded negatively when questioned whether he has ever hired an illegal.

I had to take a quick look at Barbara Bush's memoir when I saw this story. The Bush, Sr. family had a housekeeper come from Mexico to live with them in the 1960s through the 80s, I think. Her name was Paula, and she also was considered "part of the family."

So, with Dubya following the family pattern, it's hard to say how much this influences policy. Ideally, it should not.

If this person was illegal and working in the TX Gov's mansion, then I have a real problem with that. By the way, I am a Texan and live in Texas.

(The White House last week refused to comment on Galvan, except to
say that she is a U.S. citizen; White House aides were silent on how
she entered the country and what her legal status was at the time.)

Dubya admires one person.
And decides to give away the country he helped save after 9-11.
In-Freakin'-Credible.
