The problem with Alan Keyes is that he couldn't make a speech without saying something profoundly dumb.

Harris had a campaign staff of professionals at the beginning, but they ALL bailed when they got to know their candidate better.

I really thought we had a chance to pick up this seat. I wrote to Nelson last week and told him that I will vote for a dancing pig before I vote for him. He wrote back and said that he is "working hard on important issues affecting all Americans and is grateful for my support." I was going to call him a loser, but I guess at this point that wouldn't be appropriate.

A lot of Republicans in Florida told her not to jump in to the race at all. They recognized that her name recognition and controversial past could mean a very mean, brutal primary fight. No suprise that prominent Republicans around the state stayed out once Harris jumped in.

That just tells you that the FL GOP is nothing more than a good-old boy network that wants to continue supporting hapless Rockefellers.

The question is, do you pour resources into Florida so that Harris loses by only 20%, and in the process lose 3-4 other GOP seats that could have been won with a few more ad buys?

The distinction isn't between moderate Republicans and real Republicans, it's between those that have a grasp of reality and those that don't.

The reality is that the FL GOP wasn't man enough to challenge Harris in the primary, so they've decided to undercut her instead.

Every penny spent on Harris is a penny flushed directly down the toilet.

Harris has strong grassroots support. She doesn't need the RNC's money anyway, which probably consists of those Gringo De Mexico bills anyway.

Very well said. Freeper Myopia is one of the worst afflictions around these parts. The average voter is nowhere near as liberal as the average DUer, nor nearly as conservative as the average Freeper.

I get the same kind of letters from Barbara Boxer. Har! I've never understood Florida politics, so perhaps I should stay off these threads, but this Senate race fiasco is an across-the-board Republican Party fiasco. We've had weak Sen. GOP candidates in Calif., but nobody in the Party stabbed them in the back five months before the general election. The Florida GOP bears the full responsibility for the loss of this race.
