The only people Bloomberg would arrest are people defending themselves from New York's criminals.

...it would begin to lose its well-earned reputation as the mugging capital of America. Wot, and leave show business?

I sold guns in New Jersey. I ran into lots of NYC cops who told stories of encounters with muggers, thwarted only because the cop had his pistol at hand. No shots fired, no paperwork filed (too much bs) and often the reason they moved to Rockland and Orange Counties.
I often wish they would joing the NRA and get on New York to stop denying the right of self defense to its citizens.

New York City is unique. Look at the kind of people living there. Most are foreigners who speak no English, know nothing about this country, elect people like Hillary Clinton as their senator, and are as far away from being "the people" as described in the Constitution as one can be.
Do we want such people carrying guns? I think not.

The detective still could get charges because he was off duty when attacked.
