Gay school bill in trouble

Spokesman says the governor plans to veto curriculum measure, but Kuehl insists it can still pass.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will veto a bill passed by the Senate and pending in the Assembly to revise California's school curriculum to include the contributions of gays and lesbians to the state and nation, a gubernatorial spokesman said Wednesday.

"The governor believes that school curriculum should include all important historical figures, regardless of orientation," said Schwarzenegger's director of communications, Adam Mendelsohn. "However, he does not support the Legislature micromanaging curriculum."

Wednesday's announcement signaled a death blow to the efforts of state Sen. Sheila Kuehl, D-Santa Monica, the openly lesbian author of the measure, to obtain recognition for the contributions of gays, lesbians, transgender and bisexual people to the social and historical landscape.

Kuehl's bill had passed the Senate on a 22-15 vote on May 11 and was awaiting hearings in the Assembly. She expressed disbelief that Schwarzenegger, who traditionally has withheld comment on legislation until it passes the Legislature and reaches his desk, has broken with his own precedent and made up his mind on a bill that still hadn't been vetted by one house of the Legislature.

"He hasn't made up his mind, I don't care what some underling might have said," Kuehl said.

Kuehl said she hasn't spoken to the Republican governor about the bill yet and that she didn't plan on trying to initiate a conversation with him until it had set sail in the Assembly. She said she intends to approach him on the subject.

The socialist/liberal agenda continues to try and force its way into the lives of our children through their indoctrination camps, aka The Government School System. This effort should die. If I had to educate my kids again, they would NEVER set foot in a government school -- ever!

Why does there have to be a special curriculum? If an historical figure is gay then that's ok if it's mentioned, but why does it have to be forced? Sheesh

Maybe the first lesson in "Gay History" class should be about the Air Canada steward who is believed to have infected about the first 1000 AIDS patients in North America.

Agreed. Bayard Rustin was one of Martin Luther King's top advisers. He was gay, though not talked about at that time in the 1960s. Talk about him in history and mention that he was gay. But there's no reason to have "gay lesbian" type history.

"Assembly to revise California's school curriculum to include the contributions of gays and lesbians to the state and nation,"

Groan.
Why stop there?
What about the contribution of albinos then?
Transsexuals? Bisexuals? Deaf people? The blind?

Cali is getting even crazier than before.

Arnold should have waited on this. I want to get as many Dem legislators as possible on record on this moral atrocity. Now they will just bury it and it will never get to the Assembly floor.

Arnold will be 2 for 2 on two important bills. First, he vetoed the bill last year which attempted to legalize same-sex marriege. Now he will veto a homosexual textbook bill. He's liberal in some areas but he's been in the right place on these issues.

Can you imagine a Democrat governor of Calif. vetoeing gay marriage or vetoeing a gay textbook bill?

if a Democrat is elected governor, then Dems. will control everything in California. Watch out if that happens.

I still don't understand why it is important to know the contributions of a person based only on sexual behavior. It is a sign of a diseased society when a government decides to endorse and mandate that children accept sinful and unnatural behavior.

just wait for the floor debate.

EVERYONE dead will be claimed to have been homo.

look for the lincoln "teach the controversy"

look for the left to misread history and miss the part of ancient greeks STONING TO DEATH those who were homosexuals. (but if you don't read greek you can make it all up)

George Washington did not have kids because....

the REAL reason GWBush had his differment

but they will assuridly skip the rummors of Hitlary's life.

this is too absurd to even bother with the sarcasm tag.

We don't "mention" that people are heterosexual, why "mention" that they are homosexual? It simply doesn't matter except for an agenda of politics.

all discussion of homosexuality is sex education.

Homosexuality is only about sex.
This is no different than the GSA homosexual dating recruiting clubs in the schools.

This is about indoctrinating children to homosexuality.

Teaching the controversy to make it like ALL historical figures were probably homosexuals.

this is teaching recreational sex to children.

Agreed. There's no reason why you have to know someone's sexual behavior.

We've come a long way in 13 years. In 1993 gay leaders were happy with Bill Clinton with the "don't ask don't tell" rule for military service. Now, the goals have changed and they want to get rid of that rule, plus expand into things like publicizing the sexual behavior of people in history. We've come a long way, but not everybody thinks this is progress.

Other things too related to homosexuality have come a long way. In 1993 nobody thought of the concept of gay marriage. Now we're "homophobic" if we don't want to allow it.

In addition to patient zero, how about the homosexual history of the Nazi party in germany?

How about the history of the homosexual child molesters of the brownshirts?

How about the homosexual history of the Nazis who wanted to march on skoki?

How about the truth about homosexuals fighting to keep their infection ladden bathouses open and making the aids crisis even worse via the delay?

you are falling into the trap.

Heterosexual behavior is normal human conduct.

Homoseuxal behavior is not equal, it is a sexual fetish no different than those who molest children, have sex with animals, wife swap, or are obsessed with leather.

Homosexual sex is only about recreational sex. It has no value to society.

Three for three. He vetoed another Gill Cedillo driver's licenses for illegals bill as well. I'll take a RINO over a Dem any day.

No, I'm not falling into a trap -
Our sexual normalcy or deviancy need not be a topic of conversation at all in school.

Good news. I guess Schwarz doesn't want to completely alienate conservatives, just most of the time.

Hey Maz!

Have you made your heterosexual contribution to your country today?

I think that they should have high school courses on heterosexual contributions of peopele to their nation and state.

Wifey appreciates my heterosexual contributions but Elton Johns does not? He only appreciates homosexua;l contributions.

Gawd, I swear this country is going to the dogs!

Atta go Governator, it is clear that with this veto you have made and overwhelming heterosexual contribution, although there are times that I wonder about you Arnold!
