Avoiding Clash, Senate Sends Judicial Nomination to Floor

WASHINGTON, May 25 — The Senate cleared the way on Thursday for a top aide to President Bush, Brett M. Kavanaugh, to be confirmed for the federal appeals court, avoiding a partisan showdown over a nomination that had been stalled for three years.

Senators voted, 67 to 30, for a floor vote on the nomination, expected on Friday.

Democrats said Mr. Kavanaugh, who was on the staff of Kenneth W. Starr, the independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton, was too partisan and lacked the experience for the appellate bench.

But the senators were unwilling to block the nomination using a filibuster. That tactic could have prompted Republicans to respond with the so-called nuclear option, a rules change permanently barring judicial filibusters.

"I don't believe he's filibuster-able," said Senator Dianne Feinstein, the California Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee who voted to bring the nomination to the floor.

Ms. Feinstein said she would vote against confirmation, saying that she would vote for Mr. Kavanaugh as a district judge, but saying, "the circuit, I think, requires more seasoning."

Mr. Kavanaugh has been nominated to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the court that produced Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.

The members of the Senate of both parties should all be tried for treason and then ripped apart by angry mobs
Unfortunately the angry mobs are too busy earning an honest living while illegal aliens steal their social security,
jobs, and ruin our earning power.

Hillary will vote no, she hates Kavanaugh and I believe she voted against ending the debate on his nomination once before

So, do 'the angry mobs' actually exist, or they are only in the mind of some people?

This is good news. The Democrats have effectively backed down on this nomination.

Translation: Giddy Democrats, flush with 20 million new voters and guaranteed a return to power to begin a century of socialist rule, said, "ah, hell, let's give those idiots one."
