Not sure why your tome was posted to me, seeing as I abhor the Senate bill, and have written and called our two RINO Senators who voted for it expressing indignation.

We have also called our Congressman saying that they had better not buckle to the Senate version of the bill.

Good for you for contacting your Senators and Congressman.

However, your denunciation of the opponents of the bill who have spilled over into attacks on the President is misguided. To give an analogy, most military historians regard Robert E. Lee as a good general, but his disastrous mistake in having General Pickett assault the Union forces in a direct attack lost the Battle of Gettysburg and eventually the Civil War for the South. Irrespective of the good that President Bush has done, his proposals in the area of immigration are as dangerous and ill-conceived as was Pickett's Charge. If conservatives suspect the President of a hidden agenda in this matter, their suspicions are understandable because of the extremely high stakes in this legislation. It is not about bridges in Alaska or whether we build a new weapons system, but the political balance in this nation for several generations and the strong potential for the fulfillment of all liberal political dreams, not to mention the added burdens of higher taxes to support the increased social service needs of the immigrants.

The stakes are too high to allow for compromise in this matter. The borders must be protected and the existing laws against illegals and their employers enforced. There must be no deal on the issue of moving illegals to citizenship or permitting tens of millions of foreigners to come to our shores.

I haven't read through the entire Senate bill because I believe in enforcement first, so I don't know the answer to my question.

But it was you who said that we would have 20 million citizens who vote Democrat above and beyond the current quotas per year. So I figured you would know how much the Senate bill raises the quotas.
