The Bush administration and Republican Senators have badly misjudged both the attitudes of most Republicans (and, of course, most Americans) toward illegal immigration, and the intensity of those views. While we have opposed the Senate plan, we have been pretty mild-mannered about it. So I'm turning the microphone over to my friend Bob Cunningham. No one I know of argues immigration-related issues more cogently. Equally important, no one I know of conveys the white-hot anger and sense of betrayal that millions of Americans feel about this issue more effectively.
We know that this site is widely read in the White House and in Congress. To all Republicans in Washington: please, please read what follows with care, and understand that Bob speaks for most Americans and the overwhelming majority of Republicans:
Here's what they're missing, and it is the principal reason, in my opinion, WHY the anti-ILLEGAL forces are so upset -- and so powerful.
It has to do with the bad faith, calculated deceit, Orwellian propaganda, dishonest sophistry, misdirection, arrogance, presumption, indifference to, and, indeed, contempt for the beliefs of huge numbers of ordinary Americans -- including LEGAL immigrants and Hispanic natives! --- on the part of political/media elites.
Let's recognize that the political process has --- democratically --- designated the illegals AS illegal. Why? Because we, as a nation, decided that their presence -- NOT themselves per se (as the false attribution of racism would have it) --- but their presence in such numbers for such purposes (the phony Jobs Americans Won't Do/Jobs Americans Are Not Doing) is undesirable. There are perfectly reasonable grounds for that judgment. When did we vote for the Mexification of America? ANS.: NEVER....Indeed, going back to the 1965 immigration "reforms", assurances were REPEATEDLY given (Kennedy) that such reforms would NOT lead to an influx or demographic change. And guess what? The burden of proof is NOT on the nation to justify this stance.
Period. Full stop. End of discussion.
Since these elites don't like that decision now they want us to accept a fait accompli..and more! They feel perfectly justified in collaborating in the subversion of our democratically enacted immigration regime --- with crass, narrow, economic special interests and with others having perhaps more sinister designs. Their objectives --- open borders, a free flow of cheap labor --- are plain now for all to see. Some no longer even bother to pretend otherwise.
Given that, there is NO REASON to believe ANY of their promises --- the "wall," enforcement of "tough" conditions for a "path to legalization/citizenship" or limits in a "tough and smart" "temporary" "guest workers" indentured servant-helot program. We also know that the very underlying rationale itself for "temporary" "guest workers" (the economically illiterate JAWD/JAAND) is in DIRECT CONTRADICTION to ANY arbitrary "limits"....Indeed, the very claim itself that deportation is "impossible" renders the enforcement promises self-refuting! We should all ignore the false promises and intentional non-feasance in the past?...and do I even have to mention the Simpson-Mazzoli fraud? "This time it's different"?....we REALLY mean it now?....
The ultimate retort of the immigration celebrationists --- let us call it the "immigrants are good people" argument --- is totally beside the point. It is an assertion that no one would disagree with, but it is also an argument that has NO internal LIMITING PRINCIPLE. There is, on its own terms, no non-arbitrary basis for excluding ANY ONE of the 6 billion non-Americans. Other than criminal disqualification, most of them, are, indeed "good people"....so what?
Well, we already decided the question of numbers and limits...and the political/media elites, in conjunction with the scofflaw employers, do NOT have standing to subvert the democratic decision made, upon deliberation, several times in reliance on what we now can see were plainly false promises.
Never again.
how will the pubies know you are opposed to their actions? Because they will be looking for a job come November. I can tolerate fools, but not disloyal fools. They either get it right or do nothing on this issue. This issue is too big and impacts to deep to be hustled through the Senate and House with everyone saying they fixed it. Lets let it go into the mid-terms and allow Americans the opportunity to speak clearly to their reps what they want done. This would be an opportunity to have a hillary listening tour.
You are deluding yourself. Insane McCain and Brokeback Graham have triangulated the senate judiciary and effectively stopped up the nomination process. They played compassionate compromise to the press and now how many nominees have been confirmed??? We don't run the Senate now so losing a majority with no control is same thing as minority status. It is more important to remind these loose canons that their status and power derive from us. I can't wait to watch McCain's head explode when he looses the primaries in NH and SC. Ditto for Brokeback when he is looking for a job in some gay bath house in SC.
OUTRAGE ALERT: Part of the 423 pp Senate bill offers help to protect Mexico's southern border. Look at section 114 of the bill: SEC. 114. IMPROVING THE SECURITY OF MEXICO'S SOUTHERN BORDER.
(a) Technical Assistance- The Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary, shall work to cooperate with the head of Foreign Affairs Canada and the appropriate officials of the Government of Mexico to establish a program--
(1) to assess the specific needs of Guatemala and Belize in maintaining the security of the international borders of such countries;
(2) to use the assessment made under paragraph (1) to determine the financial and technical support needed by Guatemala and Belize from Canada, Mexico, and the United States to meet such needs;
(3) to provide technical assistance to Guatemala and Belize to promote issuance of secure passports and travel documents by such countries; and
(4) to encourage Guatemala and Belize--
(A) to control alien smuggling and trafficking;
(B) to prevent the use and manufacture of fraudulent travel documents; and
(C) to share relevant information with Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
(b) Border Security for Belize, Guatemala, and Mexico- The Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of State, shall work to cooperate--
(1) with the appropriate officials of the Government of Guatemala and the Government of Belize to provide law enforcement assistance to Guatemala and Belize that specifically addresses immigration issues to increase the ability of the Government of Guatemala to dismantle human smuggling organizations and gain additional control over the international border between Guatemala and Belize; and
(2) with the appropriate officials of the Government of Belize, the Government of Guatemala, the Government of Mexico, and the governments of neighboring
contiguous countries to establish a program to provide needed equipment, technical assistance, and vehicles to manage, regulate, and patrol the international borders
between Mexico and Guatemala and between Mexico and Belize.
The bill also puts a ten-year statute of limitations on prosecutions for many things, including salvery and trafficking in persons, including: chapters 69 (relating to nationality and citizenship offenses), 75 (relating to passport, visa, and immigration offenses),or 77 relating to peonage, slavery, and trafficking in persons), for an attempt or conspiracy to violate any such section, for a violation of any criminal provision under section 243, 266, 274, 275, 276, 277, or 278 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1253, 1306, 1324, 1325, 1326, 1327, and 1328), or for an attempt or conspiracy to violate any such section.
"Remind congress that they too are a part of the temporary guest worker program." That was brilliant.
It has gone completely unnoticed that the Constitution is intended to protect the people from the government. The gov't acts like it is the reverse equation.
The citizenry does not exist to serve the government.
The Founders intended to protect the people's rights by limiting the powers of government. Any action which is intended to protect the people's interests from an errant government---as in the immigration dilemma---is in keeping with Constitutional imperatives, and is to be applauded.
That the Constitution is intended to protect the people from the government goes unnoticed..........and untaught. Unfortunately, liberal thought police have indoctrinated generations with Marxist/Socialist agit-prop so that many see the gov't as the solution to problems, and work to grant gov't more and more power over the lives of the citizenry.
The arguments to justify the bill based on references to past racism and injustices are disingenuous, at best. Our lawmakers can't comprehend that the racism and injustice happened in foreign countries.
Yet, law-abiding Americans are expected to foot the bills for another country's failures.
In passing the bill that excuses all kinds of criminal activity on our shores, the knee-jerk Senate is confusing compassion with tolerance of criminality.
How many judges went through when DascHole ran the Senate?

The 30s were the start of all that. It took decades to implant that attitude into American society, and it will take decades to eradicate it slowly, one generation at a time. Sadly, if reasoned conservatism loses power, it will never get the chance to reverse liberalism, and this last best chance to stop the march of world socialism and unification will be kaput.
That's what 12 million new voters means. It's the straw that breaks the back--changing American voting demographics just enough that socialists come to power, and then they continue the Clintonian march toward UN government and toward disarming the United States military and citizenry so that the global elites will be in total control. Meanwhile, power centers in China, Russia and the Middle East will not be so quick to give up power, but will instead rush into the vacuum.
Those 12 million votes affect the entire course of future human history. Sounds somewhat alarmist to say it that way. But it's true.
I made several calls this week and last. I will continue to do so. This open border/total amnesty is Bush's bill. He will do everything he can to allow it to become law.
I see what Bush has done to our country over this pro illegal felons. Remember on Memorial Day that all those that have given their all for the USA now means nothing.

It's apparent that our lawmakers can justify just about any travesty as long as they're "feeling-good" about being "tolerant and compassionate."
The US government, and all its trappings, has been turned into a huge psychotherapy agency designed to mobolize government power---and tax assets---to subsidize and shore-up the self-esteem problems of various hyphenated groups.
Anyone with a chip on their shoulder can claim victimization, persecution, discrmination, and is encouraged to apply for sanctuary on our shores which entitles then to numerous tax-subsidized financial benefits, head-of-the-line citizenship, and various other preference-based gov't programs.....all at our expense.
It's a big con game. To some of these con artists a day without "victimization" is like a day without sunshine.
It would be better if we line up a slate of real Republican candidates now and do everything we can to support them to defeat these traitors in their next primary races. I will personally take a second job and donate my earnings to any Republican who runs against that chipmunk faced weasel McCain.
And I'm pretty sure future terrorists are licking their chops over the Senate's scamnesty...

I have not heard one peep on her immigration position.
The MSM is censoring oppostion to this immigration reform.
Other than Rush ripping Snow a new one, NOBODY is carrying our voices to the elected.
Most of the pubbies who voted for this bill are NOT up for re-election in 2006. The Cowards.
They think the voters will forget by 2008 or 2010.
