We may have lost this battle, but we are going to win the war!
Last night, 23 Republican Senators voted in favor of a bill (S. 2611 - the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006) that will give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens; but the battle is far from over and the movement to secure our borders first has gained a great deal of momentum.
Two weeks ago, Senate leaders boasted that they had over 70 votes in favor of S. 2611. They fell well short of that number and the credit goes to all of you. Your Blast Faxes and calls changed some hearts and minds and you are still having a profound effect!
This legislation will now move to a House-Senate Conference Committee which will attempt to reconcile this Senate amnesty bill with the enforcement-only bill that has already passed the House of Representatives; and this shift in momentum has further emboldened House leaders who support securing our borders first to stand firm and has significantly increased the chances that the legislation that is eventually passed by our Congress will contain NO significant amnesty provisions.
However, a lot can still happen in the coming weeks, but you have our promise that we will continue the fight until this battle is won.
You can see how your Senators voted below.

THe only Repub close to me is Smith in Oregon. I will be monetarily supporting his opponent, even though I live in a neighboring state.

people at the mall don't talk
about illegals . . .
"I'm from Illinois.
I have no Senator."
I am in Vermont.
I have no Senators AND no representative.
Thanks for this post. If we conservatives don't want to hand over this country to the left, we better get organized and put on a march that's never been seen before in history.
We cannot afford to wait another election. Our voices need to be heard now! If not, I fear it will be too late.
Ditto but I must admit to being a little bit surprised that Hutchison didn't fold. She's been talking tough but sometimes she can wander. Glad to see she didn't.
The pressure IS working!
Keep it up!
......and it appears you have joined them. If you are not willing to confront this crime where it's found, then don't go complaining about the consequences this crime will result in. I wonder where you stand on the illegal immigration problem, even though you don't care about it.
