Weekend Talk Show *Preview* for 5/27 - 5/28/06 (not the live thread)

The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread. I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for.

PingThe Weekend Preview Thread is up
If you would like on or off my ping list please Freepmail me
The most interesting guests to me will be the confrontations between Duncan Hunter and John Murtha (ABCTW). I have a feeling that this is a set up to make Hunter look bad, but if he's given a chance he might just surprise them. I'm also interested in the Mitch McConnell / Chuck Schumer "debate" on Face the Nation, but assume that McConnell will be handcuffed by his leadership position, so I'm not expecting the good stuff that he can usually bring to these things (but he might just surprise everyone). I also intend to pay attention to Eugene Robinson and find out just what type of talking points are likely to be coming out over the next few weeks.
The dominant meme appears to be that Washington is screwed up and it's the Republicans/Bush's fault. The secondary meme appears to be an attempt to denigrate any positive news from Iraq.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. One of my very favorite reads.
This stuff is just absolutely great. I'll be busy for a couple of hours tonight. Meantime, taking the little wife on a date............Mexican tonight, almost always on Friday. A couple glasses of wine, a bit of Mexican food. She's a very inexpensive date.
Here's wishing you a great Memorial Day Weekend. A salute to our troops.

You may want to look McConnell's position up on the Senate vote over illegal immigration. This would taint his appearance, IMHO.
I anticipate the issue of illegal immigration and what to do will dominate the shows this weekend. Other things will be on their agenda but it makes sense the Senate vote will be the topic de jour.
Washington being screwed up is only important IF Republicans are to blame. Otherwise, it's DC simply adjusting to the new takeover by Democrats later this year.
I strongly recommend every Freeper seeing what is on both the Democrat and Republican websites for their state. IF CO is any indication, the Democrats are working harder than we are.

Are you home from SF?
I presume so. (If so, did you shower two or three times to get the muck off?) I'm home (since late Sunday) and I have showered/bathed 9,754 times... and it's not enough...
but not because of SF. It was because of the bug I brought with me from Memphis (I know because the kids in my daughter's high school here had the same symptoms) and suffered through while in SF.
Here's a 10th circle of Hell. Be in San Francisco, one of the finest cities in the world for restaurants, and then be there on an expense account and THEN be there when you're sick as a dog and can't go out to enjoy yourself.
Dante would have been pleased.
Your efforts are appreciated and I meant to say thnak you.
Thank you. You are WAY too kind.

I realize places like San Francisco or NY city have great restaurants and services. Enjoy them while you can too. I have to believe they are destined to fail due to overtaxing and government regulations, but it takes time.

GOP Advisers: Bush's Stand Hurts Party (Human Events Interesting that their "analysis" just happens to echo their personal position on the Illegals issue. Hmm, maybe they need to go back to school. For Political Analysis to not understand that Bush has no vote in the US Senate demonstrates a complete lack of even basic understanding of how a Constitutional Republic works. Really interesting that they site an analysis for the current Senate Majority Leader. Seems these people are taking a Clinton tactic out for a spin. Sure looks like Triangulation. They do the deed and blame President Bush for the negative PR it generates. Anyone in the Junk Media even remember that Congress is a Co Equal Branch of Govt? Seems some of these guys have got their "analysis" credentials by hanging out on the Fund Raising circuit or on the Talk Radio shows and just mindlessly repeated what they hear as dogma.

Unbelievable catch Bah. This is NUTS. Basically McMedia said, "What I want is more important then the US Constitution. I is more important that I feel Government is clean and pure then the US Constitution be obeyed." This guy is NOT going to get the nomination in 2008

This guy is NOT going to get the nomination in 2008I don't think so either, Johnnie. McCain, as we know, has also jumped on the global warming bandwagon which is nothing more than a plan to get the "masses" under their control. Just a few days ago, I also heard McCain say that he had been given the ability to know what was right and what was wrong and he didn't know if that was a blessing or a curse. I think he has an i messianic complex and I think he is insane.

Practically every post/thread ends up with illegal immigration as the subject.
The following is an excellent article that brought me back in focus. Just reading the editorial was great!! I have not lost faith in President Bush and believe he has a plan and the dems are playing into it.
The Essential President
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1636664/posts
If you have read it -- my question is .... Where is President Bush really at regarding immigration!! Are President Bush's goals the same as our (or ours the same as his)? I have to trust they are. Are there plans to -----
Developing a comprehensive work program with airtight card. Everyone working accounted for and paying into the system that they take from. Workers going thru a line not digging holes and tunnels.
Work towards citizenship if that is their goal, a time-line/guest card if not. If this and other changes are made. It will and must lead us to reform of ----
Protecting our Borders, Social Security, Medicaid/welfare, voting rights, and education. These are issues that need reform and have been on the Presidents list but ignored in Congress.
I know this is out of subject, sorta, but I respect the opinions who post here, the Daily Thread, and The Sunday Show.

If Colorado is any indication the dems are working harder than we are. The rats have to work harder and they have to be a hell of a lot more inventive/creative! They have to create lie after lie, than repeat them and then act as if they are long time truths. It takes lot of work to get that kind of job done.

Here's Mark Kilmer's preview from RedState.COM
|
|
For Sunday, May 28, 2006 Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert will have Chuck Hagel and James Sensenbrenner on to talk immigration.
FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace talks to Bill Frist and famed Nazi hunter Dick Durbin about immigration, gas prices, etc. Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer will talk to Mitch McConnell and Chuckie Schumer about the election and politics. This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos talks to John Warner about Iraq and the "Hadttha revelations." Then he talks to Jack Murtha about what the show's site calls the "massacre in Haditha, Iraq." Oh, and Steph talks to singer Tony Orlando. Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer talks to Iraqi deputy prime minister Barham Salih; Prince Hassan of Jordan, the king's uncle; LA Mayor Anthony Villargaiosa; and Tim Russert. ----- Is there really anything left to discuss on immigration? To me, it seems that the lines have been long drawn on that matter. Perhaps Chuck (FTN) can discuss the recent spate of Presidential nominees flying through the Senate, despite a hostile Dem Party, the President's low job approval ratings, and the supreme influence of the lefty blogosophere. I don't know if Jack Murtha (TW) is going to go on about "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside," but it wouldn't surprise me. I'll report on these shows tomorrow afternoon at RedState.com. |

You are totally wrong, Phsstpok....
It is not WE that have him beat...
It is YOU!!!! WE are just along for the wonderful ride.
You embarrass that guy!
I note: I have been on a thread today about the so-called Haditha massacre...and if WARNER says anything BUT "we have to wait until all of the details are known, and the testimony of the Marines, before we can or should make any comment".....he is a TRAITOR to our military.
He has already shown his propensity to do that, when he got together with McCain and Graham to write the legislation regarding the "torture" at Gitmo....
I expect Murtha to do it...he is an old man enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame, hoping it will deflect from his corruption problems...and he hopes he is remembered as the anti-war "Kerry" of the Iraq War...I pity him, while I hate what he is doing.
