The President appoints judges with the advice and consent of the SENATE. Lose the Senate, and NONE of the judges you like will get past. Not one. The democrats will not simply obstruct, they will vote them down.

I am continually amazed at people who think they have a winning strategy when they ignore the basics of how the government works.

I'm continually amazed at people that can't seem to separate reality from "what's on the books."

In your wisdom then, please explain why liberal appointees all float through (with extremely rare exceptions, even with a GOP Senate), while GOP appointees still get stopped at the gates many never to get through, also with a GOP Senate, and most of which that are truly conservative don't get through at all with a Dim Senate?

It seems to me that a bunch of GOP senators made a deal, with the devil if you ask me, to wipe a bunch of good conservative judges to the side, still, as usual, not getting the promises yielded by Dims and Libs, who shockingly (sarcasm) couldn't be trusted.

In essence, we have a GOP Senate doing a good chunk of the Libs' bidding, even on these.

Nevertheless, the point was in response to your point about judges screwing up the nation, which I fully agree with, but as one that the judges are selected by the President, not the Senate, as you agree. A strong president can easily overcome a hostile Senate. And quite frankly, if the judges haven't gone through by now, after six years, then I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I'll tell ya what's gonna happen, we'll win '06 and get tossed in '08 for President, Senate, and House. That to me would be tragic! But unless some messages are sent to a political elite, and perhaps even some replaced by say members of the Constitutional Part, then they will continue to have "Governement of the people, by the government, and for the government."

In my book a few shortsighted things that likely won't ever happen anyway, and certainly not to any impactful extent, is worth the risk to regain control BY the people in '08, or at least get a good grasp back on it, is worth the risk.

Only so much can happen in two years, especially with everyone focused on impeaching Bush while ignoring a good chunk of other stuff. But at the present rate, we, you know, the people, seem to have lost control of our government and it ain't sliding in the positive direction here.

It's real easy for posters to sling names, insist on GOP control, etc. But I must ask, what are their goals? Trading away a farm full of livestock for a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk ain't the way to go here. But that's OK, keep thinking about the next two years while ignoring the next twenty.
