I'm interested in what the comments on this will be. Tony Blair seems to get a pass on this board. If John Kerry made an identical speech (and what is there in there that he'd really disagree with, maybe a couple of bits would be too left wing for him?) then I'm sure the reaction would be a lot different.
"Globalisation begets interdependence. Interdependence begets the necessity of a common value system to make it work. In other words, the idealism becomes the real politik." or, the sun never sets on the British empire.
You'd never hear anything like this from John Kerry. American liberals believe America is bad for the world and that our values are no better than anyone else's. That is not what's being said.
