Bill Kristol now downplaying the opposition within the GOP to the Senate bill. Kristol doesn't get it.

I almost got whiplash a few weeks ago when I heard Kristol come down on the "comprehensive" side of the issue. I did not see that coming.

How tone deaf or insulated from the real world are the dems?

More likely they hope their voters are and again here she went on the offensive rather than defensive with her Republicans culture of corruption, hoping it would be taken at face value and that the dems would not be looked at too closely. Unfortunately as far as the media is concerned this is working. Lets hope the American people are smarter

No idea, but it would not surprise me if Murtha accused General Pace of murder. Murtha is just plain nuts.

You took those 7,636,539 words right out of my mouth, Morgan. Case well made.

This immigration bill contains much more. Rush Limbaugh published a lengty article about the ramifications:

Rush Limbaugh Transcript on Immigration (Today's show) [5-26-2006]

I'm not a Limbaugh-bot, but he has an eye-opening perspective in that lengthy analysis.

======

With the immigration bill, we are being sold a bill of goods.

"The great mass of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one."

Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), German dictator. Mein Kampf, vol. 1, ch. 10 (1925)

===

The 'Immigration Bill' is the big lie that the Senate and the White House are trying to sell us now.

A response to the suggestion that Bush has done the mature thing (a position with which I agree):

I agree but wait and see if this does not give people who like to bitch about Bush something else to complain about. Left by Terrye on May 25th, 2006

You're welcome. You gotta give credit where credit is due.

I only wish I could tell you ALL he said during those dinners. Suffice to say, it would make you smile, be proud, laugh, be upset, and down right fascinated throughout it all. He's really fun to be around.

You're welcome but Hannity or Ingraham will have to figure it out for themselves. They will, I'm sure, before the election in November.

I just read your response and I LOL! I never thought of the MSM/DNC as cyclops before,but your post made me think of the old horror movie "cyclops" the one eyed monster, and it fits them. Of course ceeBS has that logo that looks like a "cyclops" also. The MSM/DNC will now and forever be known as "cyclops" because their one eye is representative of how they all think/see as one,no divergent opinion for them.

America: the land of opportunity.

Just ask all the ex-presidents or foreign country leaders who are now at our universities and on speaking tours. ROFLOL

This is a really frightening thought, but Hastert and Frist both coming out for Jefferson makes it look like the Pubbies have something to hide in their offices. What in the hell is going on with them?

@@@@@

The Jefferson case is one that everyone can 'understand." He was videotaped taking a bribe. The numbered bills were found in his freezer, And he commandeered National Guard troops to go to his home in New Orleans during the critical rescue phase of post-Katrina.

His name could be used as a synonym for corruption, and the dem-enabling media will not be able to suppress this story.

There is a debate going on whether Bush abandoned Conservatives or Conservatives abandoned Bush - Anchoress gives a dissection. Worth the read IMO which I agree 100%.

If the are illegal and have been working illegally how does one prove when and for what they have work in order for tax to be collected.

According to the provisions in this new Senate bill, all they have to do is sign an affidavit stating 'I've been here x number of years, and I owe $y amount in back taxes.'

[There are no provisions for verification, nor any provisions for punishment for lying on the application.]

I saw the post earlier that said Durbin was going to be on the conference committee. He is a supporter of the "Dream Act" which is the provision in the immigration bill that gives in-state tuition to illegals. This is one of the worst things in the bill and I don't hear anyone talking about it.

As someone who is English I find this so hard to understand. Are they saying that constitutionally you cannot search the office of a Congressman or was it way it was gone about.

I know there is the separation of powers thing which I am just about holding onto by the skin of my teeth which we do not have.

At the end of the day though to be you have either done something wrong or not and if you have then there should be powers to search in particularly your office.
