According to Murtha, the only thing that happened was an IED went off, killing a Marine. He says there was no firing from nearby houses, that the Marines just went in and killed people. Payments were made to the families and that requires authorization at the highest levels, he says. He says no one has done more for the troops than he has.

ref post #76, the Country Club Republicans are trying to take over the Party from Conservatives, and they have been planning this for about ten years that I know of. They really think they have a chance to smash the Conservatives , and are pushing really hard right now. Whitman is the leader, and when she was a Cabinet Member I always worried what havoc she was doing behind the scenes. She finally took her "ball" and went away mad, and stayed mad. There is a huge RINO faction that thinks they will push the Conservatives down,but they are wrong because without Conservatives they are not in the Majority, and that is one one thing that they really covet, "Power." I believe McCain and Whitman are together on this and have made a "devil" pact,but we shall see very soon. What is not very helpful is when some of the Conservatives become so radical on the Immigration Issue that they turn every conversation into a hateful rant. You could be talking about sliced Bread, and they would turn it into an all about illegal immigrants conversation. It makes out side look bad.

By the way Ileana ros Lehtinen is "not" one of those Fla. bad guys from the House. She supports the country and does great things for her constituents like getting Fed. grant money after last years storms for some fishermen that were devastated in the Keys just to name one of many things she does for us.

Kate O'Beirne makes a good point. More Senate Reps voted against the bill than voted for it and the same is true for the House bill, which is not supported by the WH. We have a situation where the majority of Reps in Congress don't support the WH and vice versa.

That is true MID and we must stay on the offense, and be relentless because the MSM/DNC certainly are. They believe that if they can win the House and Senate back for the Dems with their lies,omissions and hateful rhetoric, they can withstand one more cycle of lowered ratings,Lowered ad revenue,lowered stock prices, lowered circulation numbers,lowered poll numbers, etc.,etc. They think that all the Positives will come back for them if they can just do the bidding of the DNC one more cycle, but they are wrong and we must make sure that their "cyclops" thinking is short sighted and way out of Mainstream think.

I will be very surprised if there is a bill, too many critters too entrenched in their positions to compromise.

At a grotesquely simplistic level the opposing positions basically boil down to:

Conservatives:

1. Seal the border
2. Don't give amnesty to the illegals already here

Liberals:

1. Don't seal the border
2. Give amnesty to the illegals already here

Having no bill IS the compromise between those two positions, but it ends up leaving the status quo in place, which is effectively the liberals position, since we don't have sealed borders and we don't enforce our existing laws (weak as they are).

LOL. John Warner doesn't ever say anything profound or even interesting, but he has really developed a talent for intonation and emphasis that makes it sound like he is actually saying something really important.

How about enforcing the laws we already have on the books? Securing our borders should not be held hostage to comprehensive immigration reform. The Reps should push for border security as a matter of national security post 9/11. Let the chips fall where they may.

Excellent post here! I too would rather encourage scientists, computer programmers and brilliant minds to come her rather than 12 million gardeners.
