Innocent little me had not thought of it in that connotation, yes the dose does mean that in Britain as well.

What I meant was the dose on FR which is the Day in the Life of President Bush thread which has a nick name of the daily dose of dubya.

I post the thread twice a week and always check in each evening so was using the term "catch you" as see you later.

I agree with Rumsfeld when he said "I have a lot of confidence in the American people." He may be referring to Iraq and the WOT, but I would extend that to other issues as well. This problem with illegal immigration will be resolved. Not to everyones satisfaction today, but it will be resolved. If more needs doing over time, that will also happen. We have to remind ourselves, the US government was designed to be INefficient. It's going to take time.

I am not sorry to say, I too have a lot of faith in what we're doing and that people will respond to logical leadership, which Republicans are providing (for the most part).

So far Murtha has managed to dazzle them with footwork,

that will soon be seen as foot-in-mouth work? His opponent Diana Irey is a very attractive (intellectually as well as physically) candidate.

Surely though now in 2006 time has come for a change after here in Britain the political system as was then bears no resemblance to now. Our royal family not only having no say in the actual policy of our government but it is frowned upon them making any form of political point or statement.

Late response but here goes. They feel that they are above the Law, and they think they are celebrities and should be treated differently. It happens to most all People of any renown, they start to believe their own Press releases, and Publicity soundbites. Athletes are even worse than Congress IMHO, but they do not have the Educational Background and they get hit in the head a lot more than congress critters. standards have changed and that is the paramount problem. what good is the ethics committee when the Dems do not even have to have the same rules as Pubbies, and it is a Mexican(sorry about that) standoff on the committee because of Partisan bickering. Who in the Hell is in charge of this mess anymore. If I were a Teacher and grading Congress it would be a C at best for most of them. I would grade their ethics at a big fat F for Dems and a C- for Pubbies.

That was an awesome special..

I thought I had seen it...but, the one I saw was before all of the calls by these ex-Generals calling for his resignation.

I admit that I am one of the people that Bret talked about that just fell in love with Rummy during his pressers at the time of the Afghanistan War..and I always look forward to his pressers.

His wife is a very pretty woman..and she and Rummy seem very well suited to each other.

I would highly recommend it if anyone missed it..I am sure Fox will rerun it.

Did I read that Birch Bayh saved Ted Kennedy from the Plane wreck that killed the Pilot?

There has been hints the last few days that Don Evans may be in line to take Treasury Secretary John Snow's job...

I don't know if it will happen, but I have heard even lib talk show hosts, like Chrissy Matthews say that Evans has been one of the most "likeable" of Bush's cabinet members and friends...(Evans was brought with him from Texas)...

I am thinking it would be very interesting if Don Evans isn't being put in now...to give him some more exposure.

IF he has that reputation among the media, and politicians...wouldn't he be an interesting person to look into, re: 2008??

This mugshot of Saunders reminds me of a show he did with Terry Bowden dicussing a coaching vacancy (maybe Notre Dame). They agreed that the next major D-I football slot should go to a Black coach. I'll never forget that moron Terry nodding in agreement, knowing that his Daddy may have been passed over in such a hiring regimen, and that the crew of D-I coaches he sired might also have never happened. I like the MLK,Jr. test of "content of character, not color of skin."

I heard the interview too and I'm a bit stumped on the problem.

I am glad there is someone else who heard the Rush/Snow interview as I did. Tony was saying the same things before he joined the White House...they have to pay a fine, stay employed, learn English. I do wish the proponants would stop saying those things though. The fine is meaningless, it doesn't have to be paid for years and, by that time, the illegal will have received quite a bit more from the EITC. The continuous employment requirement is not continuous at all and who will monitor whether an illegal has been unemployed for 45 days and rush to deport them? There is no real requirement that the illegal learn English. They need only enroll in an English course, for which they will get a $500 stipend. The "pay back taxes" is equally illusory. I cringe every time I hear this list of their "hardships" recited.

That is correct. Bayh and his wife Marvella (since deceased and Birch married a younger woman and now has a young child as a half-brother to Evan)were in the plane with Ted Kennedy. When it crashed, Bayh dragged Kennedy out of the wreckage, saving his life beause the plane caught on fire, I believe.

The Kennedys and the Bayhs have remained friends over the years. Evan will never publicly disagree with Ted Kennedy. Period.

He treated Tony like a close friend, almost brother sitting at the kitchen table, or in the fishing boat, asking for the low down. Of course 30 million eavesvdroppers where listening in.

#####

Very nicely put. I thought it was one of the best conversations I have ever heard for pure professionalism on both sides.

I think that Tony Snow is more on board with Bush's immigration ideas than almost any talk show host I have heard...

however, it is a very hard position to articulate..because I have come to believe that what President Bush wants is "more" than the House plan, but, probably quite a bit "less" than the Senate plan...

So, he, like the rest of us are just waiting to see what comes out of the blender when the two Houses get together, (if they do)..

And, since it is hard to articulate..and we are in a "wait and see mode"...it must be really hard for Tony to go on a radio show, which forces one to talk in "sound bites"...and really itemize how Bush feels, or how HE feels about it, personally (which I guess he really can't anymore).

I am just glad that Tony is going on all of these talk shows so HE can report back to Bush what he is being told.

Re Shumer on FTN, I listened on radio and noticed unnatural pauses. It was obvious that Schumer was waiting for someone to feed him answers. I thought about his earphone, not having seen his behavior.

GREAT POST!!!

Your best so far today...I think all of us are guilty at some point of wanting our 100% POV to be the most popular..or in this case, the one Bush agrees with.

I have started out on some threads with a certain POV and opinion on something, even to the point of debating with other Freepers, only to change my mind, 400 or 500 posts later....

Now, lately, I think threre has been a massive influx of freepers that just won't give, won't budge..and are the first to start calling other freepers name...(which is a sign of a closed mind, IMHO).

Have you seen ALL that is in that Senate Bill??

No.  I'm going to count on others (particularly here) to dissect it and then validate the things I think are important that get pointed out here.

I would rather have no Bill then what the Senate passed

Agreed, but if the Senate didn't pass a bill then there would be no chance of a good bill.  If the House negotiators can pull an acceptable bill out of conference then let's go for it, but if they can't be satisfied then kill the whole thing and make an issue of it in November.

As for Frist putting the House Bill alone up for a vote .. he can't because it would be voted down

Yeah, but it would put all of the Dims and the RINOs in the Senate on record as voting against protecting the border.
