Coal
Low calorific value coal lignite makes over 92 percent of primary energy reserves in Serbia. Mining lignite reserves are estimated at around 13 billion tons. Due to a high percentage of moisture and ash content, and low calorific power (around 7000 kJ/kg), the effective value of lignite is generally limited to electric power generation. The advantage of this lignite, compared to most types of lignite in other countries is, apart from favourable mining conditions, also the low content of combustible sulphur. Almost all lignite reserves are concentrated in four large basins:
- Kolubara basin,
- Kostolac basin,
- Kosovo basin and
- Metohia basin, which has not been opened yet.
The major part of reserves are located in the Kosovo coal basin, which is of particular significance due to a low ratio of overburden to coal, great average thickness of coal layer and low sulphur content. Of less significance are brown-lignite and brown coal reserves, distributed in several deposits.

If nothing, the Clinton rats were very thorough in making certain there was no competition for their 'friends'. There was more to that than dog wagging.
interesting.... thanx. :)
