I went and looked at the album at Amazon, and I decided to read some of the comments. MANY, MANY of them say that they bought the album as a way to express solidarity. Maybe the album isn't even good, but people are making this a political mission. I am stumped.

Did you like them before Maines spewed her hatred before a foreign audience?

Actually when the Dixie Chicks started, they were fabulous. I remember hearing them at a private birthday party at a club on Greenville Avenue (Dallas) in the late '80s. They had another lead singer - Laura Lynch - and they were dressed up like 1940's cowgirls. Between them all, they probably played 10 instruments. They were just overflowing with talent. Their first album had just come out "Thank Heavens for Dale Evans" and they were really amazing. They put out another album with Laura, but I don't remember the name (I still have it, but it's not where I can get to it easily. I'll dig it up if anyone is interested), then Martie and Emily dumped her for Natalie. I remember reading about it in the paper at the time because the group used to play Dallas venues and festivals. I thought at the time how shabby it was that they dumped Laura for someone "younger" (their words), but Laura was very gracious about it. I never read that she had said anything negative about them. Too bad they didn't stick with her - they got "younger" as well as "immature." Well, now they have their success - they're being played on KVIL. Anyone from Dallas knows the implications of this! Hope it was all worth it...

I did not like Natalie, I have known her a long time. But I did like their music. I went to their concert here in her home town, of Lubbock, Tx, it was only done because they had an open date, so they decided to slip Lubbock in. Lots and lots of little girls there who loved them. NO More! WE have had it with her and her mouth, and now she is slamming the home town she grew up in along with all small towns in America.

She has humilated her granmother, who still lives here. She is a mouth and does not care who she hurts as long as she is taking $$$$ to the bank. I don't doubt the music is good. I don't doubt that her NEW following of liberal bust haters and america haters are not flocking to purchase their cd's, but what I have seen since it came out is New Mexico (Roswell, very conservative) and Natalie the mouth Maines, home town of Lubbock is not buying their crapola.

It will be interesting to see if the same folks buying the CDs will be willing to shell out 50-75 bucks for their concert. I had thought they would give an abnormal amount of tickets to radio stations to give out, to give the appearance of selling out shows, but if the radio isn't playing them, they won't give out their tickets.
