"There is only one truth about this, and that truth will be revealed eventually. We will all have to live with whatever it is."

Aside from Peach's comments, this is the most sensible thing I've seen posted on this subject. We do not KNOW what happened. We will EVENTUALLY find out. We have to brace ourselves to take appropriate action, what ever that may be, but rushing to judgment is not the way to go. As in Lt. Pantano's case, I'll be interested in seeing the autopsy results, among other things. Comparison of bullets from the Marine's weapons vs. those used to kill the civilians will also be of some use, I suspect. I also know who is most likely to use "execution-style slayings" and it isn't our guys.

I will admit I've never been in a firefight, except in training (which doesn't count), but I've taken quite a few autopsy photos.

As you said, most of us are willing to wait for the actual trial and evidence, not some media portrayal of what happened.

This kind of thing happened during WWII and every other war ever fought; this war has seen less of this kind of thing than any other war.

And I notice the left didn't mind that Clinton's campaign in Kosovo fought from 25,000 feet in the air killed thousands and thousands of innocent civilians.

Gracias.

I believe that anything is possible...including good men lapsing under extreme pressure. I saw it happen more than once when I was a cop. I've seen bad behaviour covered up and I've seen acceptable and appropriate but harsh behaviour exagerated by the press and certain members of a community.

I am not though buying into this particular story yet and I will not form my own opinion until all the facts are revealed. If the Corps decides that there is not enough to move forward legally then that's good enough for me...case closed.
