Are you sure it was poison ivy and not Virginia Creeper? They are very similar and many people call VC, Poison Ivy. It's still a pest weed but not poisonous..........

Poison ivy. I can spot that leaf set from 40 paces.

Poison Ivy has three leaves. Virginia creeper five or six.

Poison ivy and Virginia creeper are quite dissimilar. VC has leaves that cluster in fives, not threes.

That is not the point. The point is that ALL plants that take in CO2 grow faster when additional CO2 in introduced. Ask any 8th grade science teacher. The article was intended to scare people further into getting on to the global warming bandwagon.
