Obviously, in war-time, you don't run a military checkpoint without consequences.

But even in peace-time, if you've lived in third world countries, you learn very quickly that police and military checkpoints are serious business. Fail to stop and you'll get a bullet in the back of the car; keep moving and you and your passengers will die in a hail of bullets in the next milisecond.

Every Iraqi knows to stop for a military control point. Every Iraqi knows the consequences if they fail to stop. The consequences will be the same after we leave.

There was an incident about two years ago (?) where a car came up to a US checkpoint, and a pregnant woman jumped out screaming, and just as she did the car-bomb blew up. It killed her and, I think, the other occupants.

Anyone remember it or where I could access the story?

I have liberal friends coming to visit and they are going to go on and on about soliders killing pregnant women.

Between the recent incident in Afghanistan with the military truck brakes giving way and now this, on top of the Haditha allegations.....makes me wonder if some staging isn't occuring.

This little muslim brother could've been paid good money to drive the women through the checkpoint. And although I haven't kept up well on the brakes story it seems to me that in view of the fact our military does extremely good maintenance on its equipment, either that was an extremely unfortunate accident...or the brakes may have been tampered with.

Not sure if I'm delving into the tinfoil realm too much or not with this, but the sudden multiple stories about our mean military are just a tad too much of a coinky-dink for me.
