A controversial proposal for a day labor site on Houston's east side has passed a close vote at city council.
The final tally was eight to six, mostly along political party lines. Councilmember M-J Khan was the only republican to support the labor site.
Earlier today, dozens of folks flooded Houston city council chambers, some supporting and some opposing the city's plan to continue funding a site for day laborers. Roger Rodriguez says the city's encouraging illegal immigration with these types of sites. But immigration lawyer and former city councilman Gordon Quan says having a safe and secure day labor site doesn't equal opening the door to illegals.
The city has been funding day labor sites since the mid 19-90's.
Looks like the Minute Men have to build another wall - around Houston!
Maybe Houston Council members ought to drive down Hwy 225 about 10 miles and visit the San Jacinto monument to remind them of who won the battle for Texas independence. Or maybe visit San Antonio or Goliad to see what happens when you let a Mexican invasion go unchecked.

Just funding the day labor site that voters in Herndon, VA won't fund.
let's just say this (should) will be like shooting fish in a barrel for I.C.E.
when are they going to build a club House for my kids and all their teenage friends who are looking for a job, to get the out of our hair?
Maybe we shouldn't have taught our kids not to pee in the street, and they too might have got the same deal?

Always seems like there's one of these lawyer types sniffing around..there must be cash to be made. As always, follow the money.
So...we are going to make hiring illegals more uh, illegal to reduce the incentive for them to come to the U. S. but provide a central place to hire them at taxpayer expense. That's logical, at least for our Houston city government. Makes more sense than a 7 1/2 mile train to nowhere. If we set up a marketplace for drug dealers to keep them from congregating in the neighborhoods, that would work too huh?
Did you hear Khan's uber-stupid sound bite? "We don't know that everyone using the day labor center is an illegal."
In what part of America do Americans find work by loitering and smoking?
I've always gotten jobs by interviewing.
Oh, it gets better. Apparently, my fine City Council is well aware that this is against the law.
And they don't care.
