It's disingenious to compare the early Democrat-Republicans to their current party posture. Consider Andy Jackson and Jefferson vs. FDR and Clinton - different perspective, but same party.

Similar to the change in "classic liberalism" and "modern liberalism." Just my .02

You need to brush up on history. The Republican Party started with Lincoln.

The Democrat-Republican party had many changes during its history. But since the 1850’s the Democrat party has stuck to one theme and that is fear and contempt for our fellow man. It has never changed from that message.

I consider myself a Classic Liberal a Jeffersonian Democrat but never would I put myself in the likes of Democrat’s throughout most of our history.
