Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger agreed Thursday to send the California National Guard to the Mexican border, ending a 17-day standoff with the Bush administration over whether the state's troops would join the border patrol effort and who would pay for it, administration officials said.
Schwarzenegger scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference to announce that he intends to sign a two-page document, effectively promising to carry out the state's share of Bush's planned mobilization of 6,000 troops, part of the president's plan to solve the nation's illegal immigration dilemma.

What took him so long?

bottom of the hour radio report - 1,000 troops proposed to be sent.
His wife and close friends.
No problemo...put up another Bond Issue.
Well, he is back to sleeping on the couch.
There will be a bum rush for the border you watch.
He was busy getting botoxed and getting a facelift.
He was waiting for his pollsters to provide him with a "REVIEW"???
RINOs are starting to get the message.
Americans want secure borders.
LOL... talk about an about-face.
Ahhh well... take 'em where you can get 'em I guess.
Thx Arnie...
Didn't he just object to Dubya when he stated the National Guard to help on the border?
This action is as squuushy as his standings in the polls.
Not sure that it will mean a lot in the end, some photo ops... results-wise, it's yet to be seen,, a civilian patrol may be a better support mechanism for the border patrol, allowing them to focus assets accordingly..
But, when nothing is working, try something new. Oh .. that, and go with the flow is my suspicion for his qualified acquiescence to the federal dictate to get jiggy with it border-wise.. ;-)
Even the Gubinator sees the size of the wave that is about to cut across his bow and the political fabric of this nation..
People are agitated.
Pissed.
Time our Gubamint represented
its citizens interests first
and not some for their own purposes
I will believe it when I see them in action. Just like With GWB, I'm still waiting.
Michael Savage will be the next White House press secretary.
That is like putting a thousand down on a 325,000 rolls royce.
With Skeletor for a wife, that's not so bad.
