CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chavez brought up Carlos the Jackal during a meeting of oil producers Thursday, calling the Venezuela-born terrorist who once took hostages at an OPEC meeting "a good friend." Carlos, whose real name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, gained notoriety during the Cold War for staging a string of bombings and assassinations. He is serving a life sentence for murder in France.
Chavez recalled in his speech how Ramirez once in a letter referred to the Venezuelan leader's 1999 tour of OPEC member states.
He said Carlos, "a good friend," said in the missive from his prison that the tour appeared "hair-raising."
"I will never forget that phrase from Carlos," Chavez said.

Hmmmm....Possibly Pat Robertson was correct ?Very correct. I'll quote Democratic Senator Earnest Hollings when he was talking about Saddam Hussein right after 9/11...
"Why don't we just take him out".

Cindy Sheehan, Jimmy Carter, Harry Belafonte, the Congressional Black Caucus, and now Carlos the Jackal, great circle of friends Chavez!

Hmmmm . . .
We might actually be able to convince some Arab regime to take Chavez out for us. The phrase "blood never sleeps" is an Arab one after all. They have long memories.

Think about it: one degree of separation between Carlos the Jackal and Jimmy Carter. I'd like to think that one night, hopefully not too long from now, former President of the United States Jimmy Carter will wake up in a cold sweat and realize what he has become. Like that scene in 'The Bridge Over the River Kwai', when the Alex Guinness character says, 'What have I done?' after he realizes, once and for all, almost too late, the depths of his own insanity.

Sorry, you have your 'jackals' crossed...
Isn't that painful? I know it will leave a mark...

Hmmmm....Possibly Pat Robertson was correct ?Possibly, but not relevant to the US. It is up to the Venezuelan People to remove Chavez...by any means determined by them to be fit or necessary...not our Government. The responsibility of our government is to reduce any possible harm that this nut bar can cause.
Now if he commits Causus Beli, that is to say causes harm, against our people, possessions, or property, all bets are (and should be) off.

Carlos the Jackal is the model for the antagonist in several of Robert Ludlum's novels.
