Democrat candidate for CA 50th Congressional district: "You don't need papers for voting"
KOGO, AM600, San Diego, Roger Hedgecock Show ^ | June 2, 2006

Posted on 06/02/2006 3:31:30 PM PDT by John Jorsett

Roger Hedgecock, talk show host on KOGO AM600 in San Diego, is playing a recording made covertly at a meeting last night. The meeting was an event held by the Francine Busby campaign. Busby is the Democrat candidate for California's 50th Congressional District, vacated by disgraced crook Republican Randy "Duke" Cunningham. The meeting was with an audience of Hispanic attendees and only Spanish-language media was invited. Busby addressed them through an interpreter.

On the tape, a man is heard saying that he didn't "have papers" and asking how he could help. Busby replies, in part, "You can all help. You don't need papers for voting. You don't need to be a registered voter to help."

Maybe Busby meant that you don't need to present papers in order to be allowed to vote, but it sounds more to me like she's saying that you don't need to be here legally to vote.

If things continue as they are, it won't matter if conservatives blindly vote republican or not.

Well, no doubt Busby will say that "helping" doesn't necessarily mean "voting"...

She'll say that you don't need to be a citizen to make GOTV calls or to walk precincts.

Is this an invitation to exercise your right to vote whether you are a USA citizen or an illegal alien?

This is will be an interesting day at the polls for the poll watchers.

Sketchy, but plausibly deniable. An illegal can help on a campaign by passing out literature, and all you need for voting is a valid driver's license and a recent bill to prove your current address.

You don't need papers for voting. I don't know, this one seems like a pretty hard one for even a Democrat to spin.

This has been the reason the 'Rats have concocted the "Motor Voter" law and same day voter registration and have opposed every effort to legitimize our voting system. It has ALWATS been about getting illegal aliens and unqualified persons to break our laws and elect 'Rats!

Next to Mexico, our voting laws and procedures are ridden with loopholes and fraud and theft of elections.

Meanwhile hispanic radio stations simply tell them out right to register to vote.

Some people claimed that Bob Dornan was defeated because of illegals who voted.

Actually, poll workers in California are forbidden from asking for identification. The process is that the voter walks in, gives his name and address... if everything matches, then you can vote. If they can't find your name in the voter rolls then you can vote with a Provisional Ballot, and only then can the poll workers require you to prove who you are.

Some people claimed that Bob Dornan was defeated because of illegals who voted.

The real reason: Dornan stayed in a doomed Presidential campaign far too long, and his Democrat-majority district got tired of social security problems not getting addressed, etc.

True but it is much worse than that. I used to be a poll worker. Every hour the guy in charge gets the list of registered voters and crosses off those who have voted and posts it at the entrance to the polling place. By the last hour the polls are open, most people who are going to vote have voted. All you have to do is walk up to the entrance, look at the list which is unattended, pick out the name of someone who has not voted, walk in and say that is your name and you are given a ballot no questions asked.

" You don't need papers for voting. "
(as long as you vote democrat)

I guess we can all drive up to Canada,  and take over just by voting, and turn it into our own country.

This happens all the time- all over the world- People from a different country just walk in, vote,  and take it over.

Those country's  NEVER go to WAR and  fight off the invaders, NEVER!

(Only  Democrats politicians can be  so screwed up ( possibly from smoking too much dope)   that they don't even know what a Nation is, and what a "citizen" of a nation is.

Perhaps this idiot should round up all other democrat moonbats and go to IRAN and vote out the mental Mullahs.

You sure can tell this fool is for un liberal elitist controled world government. No nations, no borders.

She called in the last few minutes of Roger Hedgecock's Show and refused to let him play the clip. She did exactly the spin predicted saying she "used a poor choice of words" and meant you don't have to be a registered voter to help / volunteer.

She also claims her "Spanish isn't as good as it should be" and she didn't hear the questioner say he didn't have papers.

She was very rattled by this turn of events.

Her ads say she is against amnesty but her website says she is for McCain Kennedy..listening to her telling the "unregistered voter" she says she will help wiht their schooling healthcare etc..sounds to me like she is for amnesty...

I hope the voter rolls are secure..I am concerned as California lets you register in person or via internet(englis or spanish) with only a declaration (under penalty of perjury/yea right) that they are a citizen..

from secretary of state website:
...Question: How can a person prove his or her citizenship?
Answer: California Elections Code Section 2111 states, "A person may prove he or she is a citizen by his or her certification under penalty of perjury on the affidavit of registration (for voter registration purposes only)." ...

LOL! Like the rattlesnake she is...

She's had every opportunity to debate on Roger's show, but has refused.
I didn't hear Tancredo's call, but hubby did. Tancredo says Busby should be reported for soliciting illegal votes!

""She also claims her "Spanish isn't as good as it should be" and she didn't hear the questioner say he didn't have papers."""

Ooh, that's bad. She's confused. If she didn't hear the fellow say he didn't have and papers that means...she thought it up herself! (BTW, how does she know the fellow wasn't a legal resident? Kind of prejudiced I would say...)

It could be the radio guy mixed it up an ASSUMED the spanish speaking fellow said he had no papers because why else would she make such a bone headed comment?

More evidence: the interpreter only said the fellow "wants to help" Nothing about papers.

Finally, what kind of fool would admit to a rich white lady running for Congress he had no papers? Give the guy some credit!

In conclusion: she's prejudiced. And sloppy.
