attempts to improve relations should have started long ago

Diplomatic relations did restart long ago. Not formal mano a mano but indirect.

This man was such a failure as president and even most Democrats I know admit it (but he was a great ex-president, they never fail to say). Given his record, how can he possibly think he has a leg to stand on opening his yap all the time? Iran??? Jimmy, you, of all people, shouldn't even mention Iran! Notice that while Jimmy's chomping at the bit for an "elder statesman" legacy and Bubba's mugging for the cameras, we never hear from Ford and Papa Bush, the Republican ex-presidents. Do you suppose they have more class than to attention-whore around trying to keep their names in the papers, like the two demdumbs?

he former American president, Jimmy Carter, has said that the United States should begin talks with Iran without preconditions.

Based on his record of achievement with this particular band of nutburghers, we know how much is advice is worth. It's a big number, but negative.

He's all con. Remember his childhood house in Georgia that he campaigned from -- the one they built and furnished from scratch just for the campaign? Or packing and carrying his own bag onto Air Force One -- except his duffle was empty? He's more con than a Nigerian email.

"A failed rescue attempt led by the US military brought about the resignation of his secretary of state. "

It also resulted in giving a vast amount of highly classified secret technology to our enemies.

He's a perfect barometer:Anything he says about foreign policy is the exact opposite of what we should do. The worst President in my lifetime, an idiotic,self-righteous, arrogant PUTZ.

>>The former American president, Jimmy Carter, has said that the United States should begin talks with Iran without preconditions.<<

1. Carter should stay out of this.

2. Its not a real offer to talk if the precondition is to give in order for the other side to even talk.

3. The President knows this - this is not a real offer to talk.

This buffoon (and I'm being kind) needs to STFU. He's brought this country nothing but heartaches.

"Wow, I cannot believe even Carter would sink this low."

I can.
Essentially, there is no depths to which Jimmy Carter won't sink in his maniacal quest to do as much damage to America as he can.
This POS should have been lined up against a wall for treason long ago.

The former American president, Jimmy Carter, has said that the United States should begin talks with Iran without preconditions.

Therefore, we should not begin talks without preconditions

Mr Carter believes prerequisites could present the Iranian Government with too great an impediment to overcome.

Therefore the Iranian government will overcome the impediment and accept the pre-condition.

As far as I'm concerned, Jimmuh the Jerk should have taken out the trash on this issue back on his own watch, during the 70s. He doesn't have any credibility, and should STFU.
