Wow. To do that at eleven, he must have been a vicious little b@stard. Pirates are romantic in the 18th century. When you think of the modern version, that catch families out on boats by using high speed boats and automatic weapons, it brings it into perspective what was really going on.
If they took over the boat and plundered it for a couple of weeks, they were probably having their way with the female passengers, and killed any men who resisted. The boy saw all this, and chose to join them. Fascinating story. Thanks for posting.
