One of the reasons we fight so doggedly to preserve traditional marriage is because we understand how profoundly and negatively legalizing same-sex "marriage" would change this fundamental social institution.
Much of the same-sex "marriage" crowd, however, routinely scoffs at these concerns. Extending marriage to same-sex individuals will actually strengthen the institution of marriage, they argue, not change or harm it. Sadly, many people in countries around the world who are concerned about being "fair" and "tolerant" are taken in by this line.
In his recent article in National Review Online, "Zombie Killers: A.K.A. Queering the Social," Stanley Kurtz shows that the intent of the leading far left social philosophers and academics in Europe and the United States who are pushing for the legalization of same-sex "marriage" truly is to radically transform and undermine the time-proven institution of true marriage.
Consider just some of what these "leading thinkers" are advocating:
For many, these ideas and concepts may seem so radical, so misguided and so contrary to commonsense that no one could possibly take them seriously. But they are making a big mistake in assuming that.
These philosophies and rationalizations are already catching on and having a growing influence in some quarters. For example, as Kurtz notes, one of these far left advocates, Anthony Giddens, is a key advisor to British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Giddens reportedly was influential in convincing Blair to withdraw his support for a government policy advocating traditional marriage as "the best model" for British society.
Certainly, we see these ideas and concepts circulating more widely at the United Nations and various international conferences. From there, they are increasingly filtering down to influence the debate on legalizing same-sex "marriage" and other related family issues in countries around the world.
The philosophies, perspectives and rationalizations reflected in this article should be disturbing for all of us who are determined to defend marriage and the family. It is "must reading!"
DISCUSSION ABOUT:
Same-sex 'Marriage' Advocates Really Do Intend to Undermine Marriage
This is excellent and informative.

It is the intent of the same sex marriage advocates to use "marriage" as the foot in the door they need to sue religious organizations of unlawful discrimination against homosexual marriages.
That is why they have unceasingly pushed for "marriage" rather than "civil unions", which are the same thing but non-religious.
Who are the people who think like this -- and how do we remove them from society?
You should've heard Andrew Willkow on WABC regarding this on his show (just went off)... he knocked down all the same-sex arguments... it was a thing of beauty.
This post Leninist epithet was cooked up by Antonio Gramsci in the 1920s, and they consider those who have observed the disastrous consequences of Critical Theory "reactionary"?
Marxists are backward-thinking fossils.
Well said.
There's no need to experiment with homosexuality to see what happens when you mess with traditional marriage. Look what free sex did to it: teen pregnancy, broken homes, messed-up kids; it's all about me, me, me.
Instead of sticking with traditional sex-marriage and the social niceties that go with it, the crazy 60s fools decided to mess with it, and NOW they want to say that divorce rates make the objection to homosexual marriage irrelevant. The nerve! What they don't say is how their foolish approach to relationships in the past has messed it up for today's families. Sheesh. Liberals and their feel-good mentality - completely shallow.
While you're at it, freep this poll on marriage amendment:

Good article. The ultimate goal of the so called "social progressives"(marxists)is the destruction of the family unit and eventually the implosion of society as we know it.The result?Anarchy and nihilism and a new social order.
Homosexual marriage is absurb on its face. It's a mockery of marriage.
People of my generation...Depession, WW2,etc, have
no inkling as to the wierdos that talk about the
same sex marriage thing...it is just so out of touch
with the morality and natural order of things, it makes
my skin crawl, to see so many of the young people
who buy into this..it is just plain disgusting...Jake

In the Queer Cacotopia of the future, all children will be "bastards raised in a bureau."
Loathsome thought.
The undermining of marriage has been going on for decades.
The current debate is only the final nail in its coffin.
Else tell me why these days government needs to marry anybody?
Women are equal: they vote, they go to college, they actually FIGHT in wars; sex outside of marriage is OK for women; unwed couples--even of the same sex--can live together, can adopt children, it's OK to be an unwed mother . . .
See?--no need for marriage, which is to force men to protect and care for their wife and children, whom no longer need protection.
(There used to be reasons, but most of you allowed those reasons to be chipped away, one by one through the decades, until now like frogs in water brought to boil, you awaken too late.)
Don't get me wrong, I favor government sponsored marriage--
Rather, I favor a society in which government sponsored marriage makes sense--which society, alas, is no longer ours.
I plan on staying a bachelor. Marriage in this day and age is getting to be so 'gay' I want nothing to do with it.
If every conservative who has spoken up against legal gay marriage, who has ever:
1. Live with someone out of wedlock
2. or cheated on their spouse
3. or been divorced
would sit down and shut up, there would be very little opposition to it because that is the REAL threat to marriage. That however, hits too close to home for too many people. It is always easier to blame someone else that to take your own share of the responsibility.
Yes, I am married, never divorced, cheated or lived with someone.
"Yes, I am married"
to someone of the opposite sex?
I agree with you that divorce has become far too easy to get and co-habitating is wrong (I hope 99.9% of us always realized that cheating is a bad idea). I'm glad you never did any of those stupids things. Now that many of us have come to realize how bad those others things were for marriage, we can't fight this one? We just throw up our hands and say, "Oh well, our parents' generation allowed marriage to become meaningless and so I'll let another indignity take hold."?
I don't think so.
