I could swear I remember seeing this in James Bond movie a few years ago.

In Die Another Day, Bond and Halle Barry flew into North Korea in disposeable gliders called switchblades.

You sure the thrust figure is right on that? 35 pounds doesn't sound like a lot. Then again, I'm no aeronautical engineer. Just curious.

A 10:1 thrust to weight ratio is pretty darned skippy to me.

Figure 300 pounds for glider / jet + fuels / chute and body, with 70 pounds of thrust (2 engines) you have a T/W ratio of .23 which is on par with an Me-262 jet fighter.
Four engines & 50+ extra pounds for fuel/engine weight and you are at .4 T/W ratio. that's a between F-86 Sabre and F-100 performance levels

It's enough. Found this table with T/Wg ratios for review and comparisons of old and modern fighters.
