LEVITTOWN, Pennsylvania (June 6) - A deal is being negotiated that would allow a high school's class president to participate in Friday's graduation ceremony despite concern that he could be targeted by a gang.
Tyrone Lewis, 18, had been scheduled to be one of the speakers at the Truman High School commencement ceremony, but police were worried that he could be targeted by a gang from Trenton, New Jersey, because his sister had testified in a murder trial. Lewis had been barred from the ceremony.
Dave Truelove, the Bristol Township School District's solicitor, confirmed Tuesday that talks are in progress to allow Lewis to participate in some way, but would not discuss details.
"I don't want to risk the possibility of having everything unravel," Truelove said. "There seems to be a little bit of a disconnect between some of the people involved and I want to make sure everyone is on the same page."
Earlier, the Bristol Township police chief had suggested that Lewis could address his classmates by video from a secure location.
The gangs won this round.
Were I police chief I would get on TV and radio and say: "Tyrone will speak at the graduation. There will be a strong police presence. Those policemen have orders from me to shoot to kill anyone who attempts to disrupt the graduation. Any gang member who, by some miracle, manages to survive an encounter with my men will be transferred to the federal authorities to face terrorism charges. That is all."
I hope everyone on this thread realizes that this part of the whole "Stop Snitching" campaign.
Hunt down and exterminate the gang members like the subhuman filth they are and let this kid have a normal graduation.
Sadly, it's the closest the gang members have ever been to a high school diploma.
The sister is in jail because of her involvement in the crime she testified about.
Maybe Tyrone can virtually participate.
That should be just as good since the President says virtual walls are great.
WHERE IS THE LOCAL CITIZEN MILITIA? This ceremony should have a large contingent of armed citizens around the perimeter and inside, prepared to shoot-to-kill at the first speck of gang violence. It's not so much that the gangs have "won" here, but that the citizens have surrendered without a fight.
Maybe he could be surrounded by a large group of dancers who reside near Duke for his well being.
