Hackett also is irritated at Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a decorated Marine veteran who has been briefed by military officials on the Haditha deaths and has said that U.S. troops "overreacted because of the pressure on them." Hackett said Murtha is feeding an image of traumatized, out-of-control soldiers like characters in the movies "Rambo" and "The Deer Hunter."
"With one broad stroke, he's recklessly indicted all those Marines ... I don't know if he's gotten addicted to the microphones and the cameras. For him to continue to foam at the mouth, it's irresponsible, it's stupid, it's wrong."
Murtha's office didn't respond to a phone call seeking comment.

I'll be curious to see how much coverage these comments by Mr. Hackett get compared to coverage of his anti-Iraq comments.
Hawkish? When was it considered "hawkish" to demean the military the way Murtha has for the last several years?
Outspoken ex-candidate resurfaces on veterans, Marine issues
It is about Hackett, a former dem contender...
I think "on" belongs after the word "Hawkish" in the headline, not before it.
Hackett is representing Marines under investigation. Better headline would be:
Marines' Lawyer Fires Back At Backstabbing Opportunist Politician
Let me get this right, Hackett was the last Democrat to win a Moral Victory before yesterday's Moral Victory by Busby, right?
I hosed up the title. Thanks to the mods for already fixing it.
It appears the poster made up his own title and the Mods have corrected it.
Whether he knows something or not, his despicable behavior at pronouncing guilt via the media is no less disgusting. He must be defeated.
This from Hackett?
The traitor is going to have to be cornered by concerned US Reps while under the dome. Perhaps the willing could band together and form outside his office when it is known he is in side and then kick the frigen door down, run to the phone, rip the cord out, and then sit him down for a little talk.
That's not what happened, but thank you anyway.
I like the idea of mandatory drug and polygraph tests in Congress. Would make a great weekly reality show on FOX.
Let me know if you find any, because they sure have been missing in action so far.
Those poor DU people. They worshipped Hackett, and then they were all upset when the national democrats dumped Hackett for their inside man, and now Hackett's attacking their other hero.
What will they do?
Mouthy Murtha can always find his way to the microphones and cameras when he wants to smear our troops or the WH. How 'interesting' that he just cannot be found when the heat is turned up a wee bit.....
I'm happy to see Hackett criticizing Murtha for his despicable behavior. Even though he's representing a Marine, he's also a Dem.
Diana Irey deserves the support of all veterans, including Democrats and Independants.
http://www.irey.com/
Yea. Know what you mean.
Hey.... he was a Marine..He's not totally stupid...He saw how the cut his legs off takign away the nomination from him..maybe he's waking up?
His criticism of Murtha carries more weight because of his political hatemongering of our President.
And yet when he was the dems' man (briefly) we mostly heard about the straight shooter part; once he was ejected, we started getting "both sides of the story".
John McCain, are you paying attention?
Murtha's office didn't respond to a phone call seeking comment.
He only responds if video crews are involved.
FREE OUR SHACKLED MARINES. IMPRISON MURTHA.
Glad to know it's not what happened, since you have certainly been around here long enough to know better. But that is what it looked like -- especially after I copied and pasted the prior (incorrect) title and commented on the confusing use of "hawkish" as an adjective to describe Murtha apparently about the same time that the mod corrected the title. Fregards.
Hello? Liberal Democrats don't get "cornered", Republicans do.
I wish Hackett would make up his mind...
I think we have this generation's John F'n Kerry...politically, I assume he was discharge honorably and served his required time in the service.
How is it "hawkish" to want to cut and run?
Whoops! My error.
Let's see...he is accusing Murtha of being addicted to microphones???
PUH---leeeeeeeze....this article is all about HIM..and his needs and wants...and most of his needs and wants involved his "celebrity" status...and as a RADIO TALK SHOW host..behind what???
Why, that would be a microphone...
What a fraud.
Also...I love the writer of this article referring to him as a "Democratic attorney"...???????????
So...he is only an attorney for "democratics"???
I am so tired of seeing this crap in the MSM. Murtha was a Remington Raider, rear echelon intelligence guy when he was in Nam, and has the same kind of problems with his decorations that John Kerry has with his.
The public statements by Murtha concerning his Purple Hearts do not match up with the documentation that has been made public.
He is an embarassment to the Corps, Marines everywhere whether active duty or former service, and the voters in his district. His opponent gets my money, and I don't live in PA yet.

In God We Trust
..Semper Fi!
Last night, I again watched the video, "Breaker Morant." It's an excellent movie on the trial of 3 Australian soldiers in the South African Boer War. They were prejudged by the higher-ups as having committed atrocities in the guerilla war. Eerily similar to the Haditha situation.
Actually, the headline should be:
"Marines' Lawyer, a Backstabbing Opportunist Ppolitician Wannabe, fires back at Backstabbing Opportunist Politician.
BTTT
The drive-by media never fail to append that "decorated vet" part when the subject is a democrat or an anti-war type. But the obverse is never the case. You never saw, for instance, "Casper Weinberger, decorated Marine combat veteran", because he was a conservative anticommunist.
It just fries me.
Maybe he'll move to PA next year and primary Murtha...
We need some "Swiftie types" to disclose the truth behind Murtha's two PHs, which didn't require any hospitalization ala Kerry.
What I find amazing about this Democratic War Hero is that like John Kerry he has refused to release his military records .
I pray Diana wipes the floor with him. Waaaay past time for that traitor to retire.
I hope Rep. Irey is in this seat by then.
You're right. The only thing Jack Murtha is hawkish about is defense appropriations that end up with his name over the door.
Bet his two purple hearts are because he lost his balls.
Kerry got three because he lost his balls and his brains.
I like this Hackett guy (for Dimocrat) he goes out and tells this vomitus Democrat that he is full of excrement when he obviously is seeking face time and approval of the fringe left.
Yes, you have it just exactly right. LOL!
Sounds like somebody is missing the spotlight!
Well put!
As for what John Murtha doesn't know....well we don't have enough time to go into that.
With the MSM, any Liberal/Democrat that even has ever WORN a uniform is portryed as some Audie-Murphy-Type "hero", whether or not they ever were in combat or harm's way, or they sat behind a desk in some non-functional aide capacity.....their voterbase is clueless, and they gobble it all up because they've never been there, either.....sad
Murtha's announcement that he'll be "running" for Speaker if the Dims retake the House 'splains (as Ricky would say) a lot. He's a delusional zero, driven by nothing but ambition, an ambition completely unsuited to his abilities or appeal. I suppose he figgers, "Wot the hey, if Nancy can do it, why can't I?"
What a blithering idiot.
I'm happy about it, actually. Not only has he angered a few Dems, but let him be distracted by this pursuit of a leadership position. I'd prefer he not even pay attention to Diana Irey and a group of very angry veteran supporters... until it's too late. :-)
Point is, in the "Is he an unprincipled idiot?" or "Is he on to something?" debate, this provides further evidence of the former hypothesis.
You won't get any argument from me. :-)
